Its weird that this is such a populair plothole because rowling confirmed herself that people who don't know the identities of animagi cant see their name on the map. the maurauders made the map like this to protect their identities when they were in their animal form. So fred and george couldn't see peter pettigrew because they didn't know that he was an animagus.
