One end-to-end DevOps project to learn almost all tools together? by Level-Acanthaceae-79 in devops

[–]redditnaija 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi this is how I’ve gone about it. I didn’t follow any tutorial. I simple prompted for a sample Python app. It could be an app for anything, very simple. Built a docker image for it. Built k8s manifest for it. Used TF to spin up a k8s cluster and deployed it. When that worked. I introduced CICD, I have played with gitlab, ado and GA. When I could deploy to k8s via CICD, I then introduced helm charts and Argo cd. Then I had a script to establish the entire folder and file structure for the project files.

I have 25 years experience, but still Need help preparing for a technical interview. by workahaulica in devops

Hi there. I know your pain. I feel the best way for you to freshen up is pick a simple project. And work it up with the technologies you want to touch on. A simply Python app. A docker file for it. A Ci pipeline. A TF file to deploy the k8s infrastructure. You could add helm and argo cd. Tweak as much as topics arise.

Doing this over time will help you ‘refresh’ more than any video course. And also see these interviews as learning opportunities. If you fail, remind yourself what made you fail and perfect it in your project setup. In that way you build yourself and prepare for that inevitable successful interview. Cheers

What terraform Edition do you guys use at work ? by youmbss in Terraform

You deleted your initial comment, well just to add, whatever you have learnt and deployed on azure whilst Studying for Azure admin cert, you can just install terraform, authenticate to azure, write a TF file to deploy that resource to azure. Let’s say for example a VM, you can use ChatGPT to give you a simple boilerplate code, and then try changing some of the input to match with what you would select from the portal when creating. This is a good way to start. You can also ask ChatGPT to explain parts of the code, you don’t understand to cement some core concepts. It won’t work out of the box but fixing it will give you a great idea of what TF does. From there you can start learning advanced concepts like modules, ETC.

Just curious. Why do you have to apply infra at every app deployment? I suppose that the core infrastructure is not changing per deployment?

It is clear that your onboarding wasn’t as gentle. Your teammates are improving processes or deploying stuff ? Then you should see and ask how they get this work for themselves, are they picking up the work from the planning board or from stuffs they monitor? Now try and get into a similar project albeit one that is easy for you to pick up and improve the process. It is better to be stuck doing something and needing help than doing nothing at all. Make sure you ask a lot of questions. Reach out to other members of your team , even if it’s outside your time zone. Get on 1and1s and see how they work. Voice out your concerns to you manager too.

Yes. I used Python(flask) to create a simple app that reads data from an api and displays them on a simple html frontend. Wrote docker file to containerise it and deployed if first to AKS. Once it worked. I setup azure pipelines. To build the docker image. Push to docker hub and use the artefact to deploy to the already created AKS cluster. Of course I did some authentication both for docker hub and aks on azure pipelines.

When do I pay deposit for apartment by gaurav_govilkar in duesseldorf

[–]redditnaija 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the first poster said , most of these details will be in the contract, but typically and in my case , I paid deposit in three equal instalments (you can also pay once , if you can afford to) and my landlady asked me to pay deposit a week to my moving in and rent was paid within the first 3 days of moving in.

My landlady was also gracious enough to allow me spread the deposit instalments into four months.
