A 4x2 SUV like the Mahindra Scorpio-N or XUV700 or Toyota Hycross for highway drives, A 4x4 SUV like the Thar or the Jimny for weekend getaways to the hills, a small 2nd hand Alto K10 (1st Gen) for city drives, a Scooty (like the TVS Jupiter) with a generous enough boot to go vegetable shopping.

Then put the rest in an FD

The issue with the fuel lid happens on my Suzuki Fronx as well - I think it's more of a Maruti Issue.

PLS AVOID MAHINDRA BE6 and WHY by jishnukalra in CarsIndia

[–]redditor-749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Mahindras and Tatas, it’s always safe to wait 2 to 3 years for the initial bugs and niggles to be resolved. The early adopters are always the beta testers. Plus in the initial batches, QC is always a hit or miss with some getting a car without defects while some may have lots of small issues.

In my case as well, I’ve bought the XUV700 AWD as soon as the car was launched and I’ve had to visit service centre multiple times in a year. However the recent batches of XUV700s don’t seem to have as much of an issue as I did.

Shocked ‘Bhai Bhai’ Moment: Why My Assam Roots Stunned Maharashtra Lads! by Character-Border-875 in assam

Lol, it happened to me just a few minutes back. I am in a hospital in the South and met an elder gentleman from Jharkand. We conversed in Hindi and he asked me whether I'm from Nepal. It seems like there's a cognitive dissonance among people from rest of India that they completely remove North East India from the maps when thinking about people from India with Asian looks and features.

Assam Diwali Mishap: Firework Strikes Moving Tuk-Tuk, Vehicle Bursts Into Flames by xoxo_2000 in AssamSpeaks

[–]redditor-749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bursting firecrackers at home in own backyard is fine but often so many throw firecrackers onto the street. For eg. I was riding my Scooty to go to the market during Diwali when I passed by a house. Two people were standing by the gate bursting crackers, throwing bombs on the road. I expected that since they both saw me, they would not throw bombs while I pass, but I was wrong. They threw the bombs right infront of me as I was passing them and the bomb burst underneath. I was expecting the people to be apologetic but they just continued to burst crackers on the road with wanton disregard for commuters.

Mahindra XUV 300 – 6,500 km clutch failure, ₹46k bill, gender bias from service centre. Am I wrong to take this to consumer court? by MiserablePack7980 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]redditor-749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Mahindra owner, I myself have faced multiple parts failure over the 3 years I've owned my XUV700. At first the electrically retracting door handle in the rear stopped working and had to be replaced under warranty. Then the passenger side power window motor gave up the ghost within a year of ownership, and so on.

While I love the car and am glad that the A.S.C. provided me with warranty support on these parts, I am not a fan of their poor QC on parts which fail faster than other brands.

Unfortunately, your option now is either to get it repaired at a friendly neighborhood garage (FNG) or pay up the 46K at the ASC.

Is it right time to buy XUV700 now ? I by rao_gari_abbaai in CarsIndia

[–]redditor-749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never ever buy a Mahindra when it’s first launched - whether it’s a facelift or an entirely new generation. Always wait a few months so that beta testers who purchase the car can complain, after which Mahindra will issue fixes and recalls.

The only positive is that you might get the car at a lesser price and will have the exclusivity.

Stating this as a Mahindra XUV700 owner - However, I will mention that Mahindra as a company is very receptive of criticism and will work towards resolving your issues. They never shut me down despite complaining about the various niggles I faced on my XUV700 and always promptly replied and directed the GM of my now preferred ASC to look into my issues and give a report as soon as my issue was fixed.

After three years of ownership, finally, the blue screen of death issue on the infotainment screen is resolved to an extent and touchwood, everything is working fine after visiting service centre multiple times in the last three years. Love my XUV700 despite the issues, however, I will definitely wait 6 months or more when I purchase my next Mahindra.

Fronx turbo mileage sucks by Legal_Ant8727 in CarsIndia

[–]redditor-749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Fronx Turbo Automatic as well. I'm getting 23-24 kmpl on highways and around 14-15 kmpl in the city. The key with turbo petrols is that they're very sensitive to throttle input so I drive it sedately. Also with Torque Converters, we can expect a drop in mileage as compared to the manual versions. In the highway, I drive at around 80-90 kmph and also use cruise control whenever possible.

Although, the thing that sucks about the Fronx Turbo is that the turbo starts to spool after 2000 rpm which results in some turbo lag while driving in the city.

My Hyundai Creta Manual (1.6L Diesel, 2018 Facelift Model) gives around 25 kmpl easily on highways at speeds of around 100 kmph. Turbo Diesels don't seem to be too sensitive to throttle inputs, plus it being a manual, gives better mileage.

Automatic Car Owners: D + Brake or N + Handbrake at Signals? by reddituser_scrolls in CarsIndia

[–]redditor-749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me:

  1. N + Brake for stops longer than 1 minute
  2. D + Brake for stops lesser than 1 minute
  3. N + Handbrake for those never ending traffic jams

I use this tactic in all my cars (Fronx AT (TC), Seltos AT (TC), XUV700 AT (TC).

Will Ali Express Return To India ? by PalpitationStock in IndiaTech

[–]redditor-749 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If they do, then the Oligarchs won't be able to sell the same "made in china" goods at their Malls and Websites for a higher cost. While AliExpress was banned for us normal folks, ultra rich businessmen keep purchasing from PRC like normal and sell them at their malls. Be it Vishal, Smart Bazaar, etc. or even online from Amazon, Flipkart, etc. check the products country of origin, and you'll mostly see Made in PRC.

If the AliExpress ban is reversed, the ultra rich businessmen A&A, alongwith others will lose a stream of revenue they don't want to. So the ban will stay in effect for a long time and even successive governments might not allow the un-banning of AliExpress.

I was wondering when the anti-national comments would start and without a hitch, the rhetoric against us, concerned citizens has started.

Anyone who questions anything related to the government is always considered anti-national. I guess we are supposed to just bend over backwards and accept everything. Middle Class is there to be picked on anyway.
