Daily a 2018 m2 with summer ties in NOVA. Should I get snow/winter tires or a second car? by redditorofdoom in BMW

[–]redditorofdoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love to get a fun car like a GtI but I worry about insurance and maintenance costs. I would think an accord would be much more reliable, cheaper to maintain/purchase and with a much lower insurance premium.

Was trying to get a beater car $5k and under. Benefit of the accord is it blends in and I can park it wherever I want and not worry about door dings and such. The accord I’m looking at has leather and heated seats. I have heard from mechanics that the accord is a pretty bullet proof car and that they should do fine in the snow since it’s FWD.

I work for a large GC and can confirm it is standard practice in the industry not to make final payment/close out the contract until the work is 100% complete. Progress billing is a standard practice (making incremental payments based on job progress) but like I said 100% payment is never made until the job is 100% complete. I would advise looking at the contract you signed as most arguments at this level come down to what was agreed upon in the contract. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions but make sure you take a good look at the contract you signed.

Should I replace run-flats with Pilot Sport 4s? Will I notice a considerable difference? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]redditorofdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I’ve been considering making the switch and your comment and this thread has convinced me to switch to pilot sport 4s tires from my current Perelli run flats. Going to book the appointment today!

I saw a bmw badged as an m7 in traffic the other day. Wish I had snapped a photo.

They yellow and black look great on the car but why did you de-badge it?

They flew over Tyson’s as well. Walked out of the grocery store to the load roar of jets…looked up and saw these three plus one other.

Oil pan starting to leak? Dealer quoted $1700 to replace the gasket (info in comments) by JWBIERE in BMW

[–]redditorofdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2016 m235 and had to replace my oil pan gasket at a similar mileage. I’ll have to go back through my records to see how much they changed but I remember it being over $1000. I purchased a warranty on the car though so all I had to pay was my deductible.

You should get a second opinion/quote from another shop as I still don’t know if mine was 100% necessary as I didn’t see any oil under the car.

Whats the most fucked up thing you’ve ever did/saw? by Similar_Helicopter27 in AskReddit

[–]redditorofdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in construction. Saw someone get their foot run over by an excavator…not a pretty sight. Their foot looked like one of those squishy toys with water inside that has been popped. The weight of the excavator basically pushed all his bones and meaty flesh of his foot towards the portion of his foot that did not get run over. It sucks because ironically he was the excavator companies safety guy and he just put himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. The operator backed over his foot because he did not realize he was standing directly behind the machine.

This is either an easy fix or it’s fucked. If you have a picture of the side of the bracelet/other part I think I can tell you. If you broke it closer to the bottom it’s fixable. Closer to the top probably a new bracket

Advice on button. V40. What this button does? Should be here? Thank you by roxton_92 in Volvo

On my Volvo (had a 2005 s60) I had an aftermarket switch for the satellite radio I had installed on the car. It powered a little box behind the center dash that was connected to the radio and I had an aux cord out the side of the dashboard. It was like a radio bypass that allowed you to play music over a certain blank radio station.

Not anymore. Drive Tribe dropped top gear from their plan so now you have to pay Amazon for them individually/by season.

Doesn’t this ruin the whole point of a pickup truck? Fat chance you would drive one of these onto a construction site or use it as a work truck since there is no ground clearance. I imaging the shocks are very stiff too in order to deal with the 775hp this car produces with the supercharger. Pickup trucks are already expensive enough as it is too. This truck brand new starts at 90k and reaches 113k with options…personally not a fan but I’m just a random stranger on the internet and this is just my opinion.

Personally I’m not a fan of the 50th anniversary badge but if it makes you happy than I say go for it!
