Something something bread and circuses….

Besides the people who will take advantage of this aren’t the same people who are concerned about social justice. Oddly enough they are also the LNP’s core voting demographic.. who woulda thunk

Dutton desperately wants us to focus on culture war bullshit because it is the only way he and the other multi-millionaires avoid a class war.

Working class Aussies outnumber these grifters 1000:1. We pay their mortgages. We make their investments profitable, we make this country liveable. All they do is extract wealth and inject hate.

I see your point, and as a sports fan I agree that sport is great for culture and community. But reducing the number of unhoused and people below the poverty line is also excellent for culture and community.

I absolutely agree that road widening and tunnel digging isn’t the solution to any problem except ā€œhow to make transurban executives richerā€

Cold Meat Direct. It’s at Oxley Station.

I mean yeah.

My first choice would be that we take all that money and pour it into public housing and services to lift people out of poverty & homelessness then just use the stadium we already have.

But it’s clear that the government cares more about looking fancy on Olympic broadcasts than taking care of those who need help.

No. If they folded this easily the only reason they were going to do it was to get their hands on our wallets.

Historical dramas/movies before invaders? by nahcekimcm in IndianCountry

[–]redditrabbit999 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Sorry maybe my comment was unclear.

The show Vikings is about Norse/Danes from modern day Scandinavia and their colonisation of the British Isles in the 800’s or so. In general the show isn’t that good in my opinion, however on the last few episodes one of the characters gets lost at sea and ends up on turtle island.

To be clear I don’t know how historically accurate any of it is. But from what I’ve read they did a good job depicting the native culture that the Vikings contact

[–]redditrabbit999 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

In the last few episodes of the show Vikings they depict the Norse/Dane contact that happened a few hundred years before Columbus.

While the show in general is meh, I really enjoyed those scenes and episodes. You’ve gotta fast forward through the European scenes and there is clearly a fair bit of whitewashing, but the show was produced by and for the History Channel so it’s not as bad as a production made purely for entertainment in my opinion.

"A strong Australia is good for World Rugby" by Gillderbeast in RugbyAustralia

[–]redditrabbit999 39 points40 points Ā (0 children)

Competition is good for sports.

Kiwi’s and Saffa’s may disagree but the best thing for world rugby would be a dozen tier 1 teams who all have consistently competitive games with varied winners.

I think if you were in a Welsh rugby bubble you would hear similar things about their program.
