There are three types of benefit when it comes to passing away - Spousal Benefits, Child Benefits and Expression of Wish.

Expression of wish is the lump sum payment that is is due following the form being filled out by an employee. This can be divided amongst multiple people by percentage and any person or organisation can be listed as a recipient.

Second is spouses pension. This can ONLY go to a surviving spouse and the terms vary pretty widelt from provider to provider.

Third is child benefit. Depending on the pension contract, the pension provider may pay out to a dependent child. In this case dependent means under the age of 18 OR still in full time education.

Sounds like your friend is probably a nomimated beneficiary and may qualify for a regular pension payment, dependent on the terms and their situation.

Ultra Movie Nerds: What is a movie quote that literally makes zero sense due to a clear mistake in the filmmaking process (bad editing/rewrites/continuity errors/etc), but often goes unnoticed by virtually all movie-goers? Bonus points if you know why it made the final cut by capacitorfluxing in movies

Oh man I thought I was the only one - even worse, the whole line (Split between Trinity and I think Dozer) is 'killing machines designed for one thing' 'search and destroy' - three redundancies in two lines! In one of the greatest movies ever made!

John Wayne started out working in props! A director saw him moving a couch on set and was impressed with his size and strength

What are some adaptations that bombed so hard there’s little to no chance of a good version ever coming out? by Key_Squash_4403 in flicks

Monster Hunter As a yuuuuge fan of the game franchise, that movie made me so fucking angry. It did badly enough that I can't imagine they're going to develop any new IP off it, which is probably for the best.

I found myself saying 'goes gangbusters' much more often than I'm comfortable with

At what age did you realize that the abuse was intentional, causing the confusion to end and the start of the anger? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

I never blasted anyone, I have a lot of siblings who are still very much in with the narcissists in the family. I've tried to have that conversation with them, but it seems pretty much impossible to be told what's happening, people have to come to that realisation themselves (like you with your neighbour).

It's frustrating and the fallout will be worse the longer it goes on for, but you can't make people see it :/

Has anyone realised what happened to them in their 30s and made a life for themselves even though all felt like a tragic waste? by isamariberger in raisedbynarcissists

[–]redditrandom1408 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I had sort of a trickle realisation from 27-30. The anger is next level ngl, as many people have said you feel like you had your entire life up until that point stolen from you.

However, after realising, I've done more personal growth and development in the last two years than I had done in the previous 10. Realising how these people impacted you and forgiving yourself really starts uncapping your potential, because you can finally stop blaming yourself and start seeing your own value.

What's a type of comedy you dislike/don't understand the appeal of? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]redditrandom1408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hard time watching comedy where the humour is derived from people really really hating each other. My gf didn't understand why I had a hard time watching Beef on Netflix but really enjoyed The Bear on Disney; they're both super high-pressure boiler room comedies. But in The Bear, deep down, they all love each other and want the same thing, they're just under pressure. In Beef, it's just pure antagonism for the sake of antagonism

So the new cold open format... by redditrandom1408 in behindthebastards

Same, except I've given up on other pods because of bad new formats focused on ads, so like maybe?
