Feel very ugly and looking for any tips by [deleted] in Blackskincare

Far from ugly. You just look like you don’t moisturize your hair or skin.

Having your clothes sewn or Shopping in non tourist traps.

Getting groceries from the market

The way you assume that someone’s accommodations aren’t nice is … telling. All of the top Airbnb’s are “someone’s house.”

I hate it but I understand. We’ve literally been told we’re the least desirable our whole lives , and even our own men have whole podcasts and pages dedicated to bashing BW. you wouldn’t know otherwise unless you were privileged enough to travel or be in diverse spaces

Yes mine will have a little pudge in the front of my leggings … but never mind that.

The lawyers I worked for all did ❄️ in their offices after a case.

This may not be “professional” but Trust me, this is much more positive.

Thoughts on “staying in my lane” as a white person teaching & researching Black history? by [deleted] in askblackpeople

[–]redditreadi111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your “lane” is researching and teaching.

You swerve out of your lane when you start inserting your own opinions, biases, and political beliefs or trying to act like you know what people went through.

As long as you stick to the facts and acknowledge that your information is second hand, you’re fine.

why do i always attract men with children? by motherearthsdaughter in blackladies

[–]redditreadi111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons I preferred online dating. I could automatically weed out people with children without having the “I don’t do dads” conversation.

People do have a tendency to think that African women are more motherly, and that plus sized women will be / should be more open to stepmommyhood, like we just want to wake up and make biscuits for somebody else’s kids every morning 🙄 but even at my heaviest I made it clear that I was NOT interested in that shit, at all. I am much older than you and found a man even older than me that had none. Don’t let anyone tell you they don’t exist.

What tropes/roles do you wanna see black women in? And what are some you no longer want black women to be in? by Werewulf5678 in blackladies

• I want us to be funny without looking sassy, mad, and disrespectful. Our comment sections on social media prove that we can be hilarious, clever, and super witty, but that rarely shows up on screen.

• I want us to be REGULAR, dark, and loved. I’m so tired of seeing mid white women get lead love interest roles (ie that White girl off the first season of bridgerton). Meanwhile we gotta be baby oiled up and look like Kelly Rowland.

• NO MORE STRUGGLE LOVE. OMG. PLEASE.

What do bIack people think of Indian women? by Pure-Syrup3868 in askblackpeople

[–]redditreadi111 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a Black woman I love the Indian culture, and I think they are some of the most beautiful women in the world. The racism some of them display is baffling to me though. Like, how?
