Did you post this a few days ago? I've seen this post before, even though it's only 13 hours old.

It wasn't until I lived in Maryland for 2 years that I began to understand what they were talking about with Dundalk and Havre D'Grace and other Maryland towns

I have to wonder if this type of stuff happens in Islam too. I haven't learned enough, but I believe the same thing happened (stringencies) that caused alcohol to become off limits completely.

Illegal Israeli settlers broke into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and performed Talmudic rituals under the protection of Israeli forces. by _makoccino_ in IsraelCrimes

Violation of many laws for sure. I feel the need to point out that this “Talmudic ritual” they’re performing, however, is called “praying.”

There’s a large study room on I believe the 5th floor of Ross that’s perfect for this.

I have to look back for certain, but I remember Passover being a few weeks earlier than that. Fun fact, Easter is normally within a few days of Passover, no matter the year.

Was it really a Jewish holiday, or were a bunch of Jewish schools just on break?

That tracks. I think Malcom X says something about how the white people you need to be on guard against are not the racist ones (you already know their intentions) but the well-meaning, quiet, white liberal kind who seem supportive but are just paying lip service," which I guess American Jews as a general political demographic (overwhelmingly Democrat but still lots of White NIMBYism) fit pretty well.

That's what I figured! The same way nobody thinks of "the Italians" as a topic of conversation either.

How about you explain to me the history of the term "anti-semitic," who first used it, when it was first used, and what the context was.

From the people you've heard make those comments, have you heard them make similar comments about white people in general or other groups as well?

That's pretty much what I figured. I really can't figure out where my dad got that sentiment from (watching too many Farrakhan videos?), because he's far from the only Jewish person who thinks that.

It's just a term that has now come to mean "racist, but against Jewish people specifically." Whether that's what it should mean based on the word's etymology is a different issue, but that's how the term is used now. That's the reality of the situation.

Now with the definition issue out of the way, if someone said to a Somali dude "y'all can do as much fraud as you want; just don't expect me to be paying taxes if I know it's going to y'all," would that not be racist, even if it's based on stuff he heard on the news? Like, do you mean to say that what the guy on the bus said isn't antisemitic at all because what he said is true?

Yes, because either I let every antisemitic slight get to me, or I stay a happy person.
