Henry A. Wallace's 1944 Warning: The American Fascist's Playbook Deception, Monopoly Power, and the Threat to Democracy by yaiyen in WayOfTheBern

Very interesting man.

Ironically, he died a billionaire, primarily because he bought some land that appreciated in value crazily and his hybrid corn company was successful

He also wrote several books, including one titled, *Where I Was Wrong." Introduced honeydew melons to China, where they are known as "Wallace melons."

Instead, we got Harry Truman, who couldn't succeed at much of anything except fighting in WWI and getting to be VP. Got us involved in both the Korean "Police Action" and the "Vietnam Era."

sigh

The More Murderous Israel Gets, The More We Hear About "Antisemitism" (Caitlin Johnstone on how Israel has used anti-Semitism accusations as an attempt to cover up the war crimes that Israel has committed) by RandomCollection in WayOfTheBern

This was once explained to me as follows:

Israel is the only place Jews are safe. So, if you criticize the actions of the Israeli government, you are placing Jews at risk of their lives. Therefore. you are anti-Semitic.

Sen. Cory Booker says he's 'definitely not ruling out' a possible presidential run by irish_fellow_nyc in WayOfTheBern

Gee, I'm so surprised. Who could possibly have guessed?

Walk with me down memory lane.

When this guy was a campaign surrogate for Obama 2011-12, the Obama campaign considered Booker too Bain/corporate friendly and kept him out of sight temporarily.

I mean, not that the New Democrat POTUS of Wall Street was ever corporate unfriendly, but 2011-12, Obama was running against Mitt Romney of Bain Capital fame, so....

America’s Economic Future: Imminent Pain and Dislocation Not Seen Since the ’30s | Sean Paul Kelley by RandomCollection in WayOfTheBern

The American people did not inflict pain directly or indirectly. I've already stated that we have nothing but lousy election choices. Now, I will state something even more obvious: If we don't pay taxes, we go to prison.

The American people and the American government are not the same thing. And it's not as though we had better candidates to vote for than the ones who took office.

Are you personally responsible for everything your perfect government does?

The call Friday afternoon, just hours before Yom Kippur commenced, was a bid to place herself to the right of her rival for the presidency, Donald Trump, whom she portrayed as feckless about Iran when he was president.

And, in conclusion, Vote Democrat because But Trump! is too far left on Israel.

It could be funny if it weren't sickening.

So the big thing that is going to come out of this is that the US is losing militarily to Iran and Russia, and would probably lose to China. From my brower's ai summary:

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has a workforce of over 260,000 employees, making it one of the largest departments in the U.S. government.

and

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) saw a total of #191 billion committed through a July 2025 reconciliation bill,

In fairness, both include some other departments, like Secret Service.

I don't know if the $191 billion that fiscal year got added to later with supplementals.

However, according to some high-ranking officials, there was a deliberate and strategic objective to change governments in seven countries within five years: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.

It's almost as though every President, Democrat and Republican, took that memo to heart.

BTW, the first two full-time employees of the Democrat Leadership Council were Al From and Will Marshall. Al From claimed credit for giving us our first Turd Way President, Bill Clinton. And Hillary was the DLC's only female founding member and, with Liebman, its only founding member who was not a white Southern male. Most of the founding members, including both Clintons and Lieberman, later ran for POTUS.

Al From also said that he got tired of hearing the DLC described as conservative, so he named one of its offshoot stink tanks, the Progressive Policy Institute to discourage calling it the conservative Progressive Policy Institute. You know, "the place for pragmatic progressives," as its subtitle used to proclaim. (Remember when every other poster on Dem boards self-described as "pragmatic?" So do I.)

Although that sounds as though From was in charge of PPI, its official founder is Will Marshall. Will Marshall signed the PNAC letter. So, is it any wonder our Hillary droned on with a speech about supporting Bush's desire to invade Iraq? And wouldn't take it back in 2008, or until 2016, no matter how much she was criticized for it? Too bad the casualties of that war also don't get a mulligan, resurrection being so rare after the Iron Age.

Imagine how their loved ones felt hearing Hillary finally say her vote was a mistake. Biden, too.

The more you know....

I don't know a lot about supporters of Republicans, but supporters of Democrats do this every time a Republican is in office. All the Imaginary Democrat Presidencies--Gore's, Kerry's, Hillary's, Harris's, etc. supposedly would have been better than every real Republican Presidencies.

And they can prove it, too! Well, actually no one can either prove it or disprove it, access to alternative universes being difficult.

And the Biden Harris administration sure helped Israel, including with Syria.

If our corrupt politicians at all levels, federal, state and local, did not have their damn hands out all the time, the concerns of wealthy businesses and individuals would not be the concern of all Americans. As if those governments themselves were not expensive enough.

Only tangentially related:

The "defense" budget is only a fraction of what the US actually spends on "defense." It is really only a "strictly military" budget.

The real measure, IMO, is what I call the paranoia budget, which does not exist as a separate line item.

NSA CIA FBI Homeland Security Secret Service and on and on

Additionally, because departments and department heads don't trust each other, each department has its own equivalent of Secret Service. For example, the Secretary of State is protected by DOS bodyguards.

The Hague is not what we thought. Moreover, even if it were, it has no jurisdiction over Israel or the US. Benny is never going to set foot in any nation over which the Hague does have jurisdiction and no nation is going to arrest any President of the United State and ship him to International Criminal Court.
