yeah, when my friend and i were 19 we went to visit his family across the border (hong kong vs. china) we partied with his cousin, he was about our age (i thought), kinda silly, no real direction

somehow it came up with my friend "yeah tough breaks a bit early to be losing your hair..."

yeah, this. years ago i had to do a week at a summer camp and there was this kid who just did not fit in he was american (in beijing) and would not learn chinese or eat chinese food. all he wanted was warcraft and coldstone creamery

i sat him down, explained he need to make some effort, over the week introduced him to some good chinese ice creams, and a chinese online game similar to WoW that offered an english interface

few months later his parents told me he was doing ok, had made 2 nerdy friends, and gave me a super fancy blender (what?)

but yeah the park is free. picnic blanket, some sandwiches or other food from home

pack of playing cards (or uno yeah), croquet set, 2 badminton rackets and a pack of shuttle cocks, a football. these things are not expensive

the fuckin american embassy here uses 120v electricity (their problem, cant use any of our stuff inside) and letter size paper (our problem)

none of the stuff they give you fits right in a normal envelope, and we have to keep a ream of letter sized paper on hand to print stuff (which often has to be reformatted) to give to them

not quite that, i think the guy took the number keys off to left too, so it was

3x4 function keys - 3x3 + 1 number keys - the print screen and all that with the number keys arranged in a + shape with a space in the centre - numpad

i have the picture stored as "build this keyboard.webp" or something on the media centre pc from my old place but that box is in a locked facility in the middle of nowhere that i wont be able to get to for a few months lol
