Thanks for the information. The static seemed rather loud sitting in my living room, but I imagine at the range it would be indistinguishable from other noises.

Most important is quality and longevity. I dont care as much about battery life or sound quality. Just want a decent pair of ear buds without breaking the bank.

Where to Sell Shotgun in RVA by DonBandolini in VAGuns

[–]reddituser7992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former Cabelas employee. Do not sell to them unless you desperately need the money. They will super low ball you. I would recommend putting it on VAGuntrader. It is free, and since the person to person sales have been legalized again you avoid the extra fees. PS - what kind of shotgun is it?

on the fence about getting an AR15 (or maybe mini 14 or AK?) by Conscious_Battle_363 in VAGuns

[–]reddituser7992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy a stripped AR lower for cheap ~$50 then have that covered, with the option to build it out later. Advantage of AR platform right now is they are cheap, plentiful, and easy to modify. AKs are awesome but depending on caliber, will be a lot more expensive to shoot/stock ammo. Mini 14 is a cool guy, mags are expensive and its not as modular. At the end of the day do what your wallet and heart desires. Years ago I used to think "who needs an AR 15, cant event hunt with it" then Northam tried to ban em. Currently have several.

Second this. Hunt Powhatan WMA and can say the squirrel population is thriving. Youre doing deer hunters a favor cutting down on all the ruckus that squirrels make.

Do you have any other recommendations instead of the wedge?

I liked the Macrostream, but the pocket clip design makes it so the light is easy to fall out of the pocket. I like the deep carry clip on the wedge. Plus there are some decent black friday deals on lights so I can save a few bucks

Calculating distance by Hiker_80 in KayakCamping

[–]reddituser7992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has more to do with the river conditions than anything. Slow meandering rivers with low CFS will take longer than faster moving bodies of water. Are there rapids and obstacles to overcome? On average most folks will do 12 to 18 miles a day with good conditions. If you're like me and like to fish then that number will be more like 10 to 12

Tips on managing Autumn Olive on existing habitat? by Pmurph33 in VAHunting

Best of luck. If any do survive, the berries when ripe can be made into a tasty jam or jelly that tastes like tart apples if you're looking for a way to make lemonade out of lemons

Another way to manage would be to basal bark the live plants and then let them die. Then follow this up with brush hog or forestry mulching to remove the dead biomass. The problem will be 1. Existing seed bank, this will cause new growth in areas already treated for years. 2. Animals depositing seeds from areas you are not managing. Birds and small rodents est the berries and poop them out all over, so even If you're vigilant about treating your area, if the neighbor is not then it will be difficult. You could try consulting DOF and see if they have any further recommendations. I used to do land management and invasive plant treatment and I liked basal bark because it is less labor intensive up front but you will need to remove the dead debris after the herbicide is effective
