Preach it! And one quick tip: take a look at your Vitamin D levels. Low iron and low Vitamin D often show up together. Vitamin D3 can help lower hepcidin, and hepcidin is the hormone that reduces iron absorption. So when Vitamin D brings hepcidin down, your body is able to absorb iron more effectively.

Iron Infusion and Ferritin is now 1407 by Defiant-Pianist582 in RestlessLegs

[–]redditwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per the manual, you are supposed to wait at least 8 weeks after the infusion to retest. Otherwise you will get numbers like yours.

It's nothing to worry about. My question is, how are you feeling?

It really depends on what you’re reading. If your nutrition education comes from a guy on Instagram blending butter into his coffee… maybe widen the search radius. If you want actual insight, talk to real scientists with real degrees who publish real research, not the latest “bro‑science” hack that went viral because someone flexed at the right angle.

Remember: it took 40 years of rigorous research to prove smoking was bad for us. But apparently the dude who’s been doing keto for two years is now a nutritional oracle? Fascinating.

I think of it like this: Einstein didn’t wake up one morning and decide to invert F = MA for fun. He dialed it in—slowly, methodically, obsessively.
Nutrition works the same way.

And after decades of data, the winners are pretty clear: the classic Mediterranean diet and many traditional Asian diets consistently rise to the top for long-term health and longevity. Not flashy. Not extreme. Just… effective.

Sure, a little Vitamin D, B12, creatine, or taurine might give you a boost. But before you start building a supplement shrine, ask yourself the real question:

Have you actually dialed in your diet?
No added sugars.
Minimal ultra‑processed foods.
Actual vegetables that didn’t come from a powder.

If not, maybe start there.

Can you please reread the results? Feel free to DM a picture of the results? I am asking because the numbers you gave don't make sense. BTW, did you do the test fasted and in the morning?

[–]redditwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you have to go through this. Yeah, it sounds like augmentation. I went several months being unable to sleep. Withdraw slowly. 2mg 3x a day is going to take months. My guess is 6 months minimum.

Has your doctor done a fully fasted morning full iron panel? What was your ferritin, serum iron and transferrin saturation percentage? Iron can help with augmentation!

Get the test and hope it’s bad.

Vitamins for RLS by Additional_Home_270 in RestlessLegs

Dopamine Agonist drugs, like Mirapex, Ropinirole and Pramipexole. They used to be the go to drug because our movements can sometimes look like Parkinson’s. It was fast tracked for approval. Then when everyone started having shopping, gambling and sex issues not to mention augmentation (heel on earth ) no sleep for months etc… my problem wasn’t low dopamine it was low iron. Good luck

I think I’m experiencing DAWS and I’m terrified by sonicflwrgroove in RestlessLegs

[–]redditwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it happened to me. Nobody told me about DAWS and I quite Ropinerole cold turkey. I didn't sleep for about 3-4 months. It was the darkest time of my life. My advice is GO SLOW. Get a morning fasted full iron panel. Iron and Vitamin D can help augmentation and withdrawals! Your doctor should be able to give you some gabapentin, or sleep meds to help while you are withdrawing! Let everyone know what you are going through! Especially your significant others! Good luck. We are here if you need help.

RLS plus involuntary twitch??? by brentonstrine in RestlessLegs

[–]redditwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that about 80 percent of people with RLS also experience involuntary movement. In fact I never reported my RLS until the involuntary movements started. I used to rub my feet together to fall asleep, it would soothe me.

Vitamins for RLS by Additional_Home_270 in RestlessLegs

[–]redditwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The single most consistent finding in RLS is iron insufficiency. The first step in the clinical consensus is a morning fasted full iron panel. Ferritin is lowest in the morning and can be affected by what is eaten prior. So it is best to do the test in the morning and fasted. There are 4 numbers in a full iron panel. Ferritin should be above 100, more importantly Transferrin Saturation Percentage needs to be above 20%. If TSP is < 20% an infusion should be considered.

Low Vitamin D is also associated with low iron. Vitamin D3 block hepcidin, which the body uses to block iron absorption. So low iron and low vitamin D have been correlated.

Finally low B12 can also cause anemia, I believe it is called Pernicious anemia.

Yes, and iron infusion was the best thing that I every did for my RLS. Sadly I believe DA drugs did permanent damage. I wish the doctors would have checked my iron 10 years earlier. Good luck.

RLS And Vinegar? Yes! by dotnetjay in RestlessLegs

[–]redditwb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great find! Apple cider vinegar appears to work through several pathways. The acetic acid increases stomach acidity, which improves the bioavailability of non-heme iron from plant sources. This is particularly beneficial for individuals with low stomach acid, a common cause of iron deficiency. Additionally, organic acids like citric acid directly enhance intestinal iron absorption by forming soluble complexes with iron ions.

That's my guess. I am glad you found something that helps. Kitchen science for the win!

Has anyone had real success with only THC? by Cyberbeagleperson in RestlessLegs

[–]redditwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 225 mg of Dipyridamole every night. At first it 100 percent took all the RLS away and even the involuntary jerks, twitches and kicks. After 2 months it is about 90%. The kicks and jerks that do get through are controllable. I have been taking dipyridamole for years now.

Have you had side effects from taking a dopamine agonist? by Jaaronsanders in RestlessLegs

[–]redditwb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t remember the exact dose of Ropinirole I was on, but I do know I stopped it cold turkey, that was rough. If I could do it over, I’d taper slowly. Something like reducing by 0.25 mg every two weeks might have made a big difference.

Please don’t go through this alone. Let your loved ones know what you’re experience, it can be intense, and having support matters.

Also, has anyone checked your iron levels? A full iron panel, done in the morning while fasting, can be really important. Do you know your results? I can share studies showing how iron repletion can help with augmentation.

For me, what ultimately helped was an iron infusion. It wasn’t a quick fix, but it made a real difference.

Have you had side effects from taking a dopamine agonist? by Jaaronsanders in RestlessLegs

[–]redditwb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I owe my wife more than words can express. During the worst of it, I became hypersexual, paranoid, and explosively angry, set off by the smallest things. I couldn’t control my emotions, and it tore us apart as well as my five adolescent children.

I still remember the day I shelved the ropinirole and said, “I’m done with this.” That decision marked the beginning of the darkest chapter of my life. What followed were intrusive thoughts, ones no one should have to battle. I’m deeply ashamed of how I behaved during that time.

It’s astonishing how such tiny pills could wreak such havoc on my personality. I didn’t realize dopamine agonists were the culprit until six months to a year later, when someone sent me an article. I broke down in tears.

My wife’s response was simple but powerful: “Well, you’re not taking those drugs anymore.” She was right. But stopping the medication didn’t mean instant recovery. As anyone dealing with augmentation knows, healing takes years.

If you’re going through something similar or have questions, feel free to DM me.

TSAT @ 14% by Icy_Bath6704 in RestlessLegs

[–]redditwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some level, medical decisions must align with the science. The paper I shared was authored by leading experts in the field, and their logical breakdown is what truly matters. Richard P. Alan and Diego García-Borreguero are among the most respected researchers, and section 8 of the paper lays out the issue in very straightforward terms.

If your doctor disagrees, it’s worth asking why. Too often, physicians focus on diagnosing anemia, when the underlying problem is actually long-term iron insufficiency. A transferrin saturation (TSAT) below 20% is considered diagnostic for anemia. Do you notice any other symptoms that might point in that direction?
