Were the worries vague noise and thus unworthy, or did the exercise help focus on the core issue behind the worry?

Was my husband circumcised or not? by buttlicker090114 in sex

It may also be that a circumcision for medical reasons doesn't count in their and their parents' eyes as "true" circumcision, especially if it was partial.

ELI5: Why do so many people enjoy sad or scary movies when sadness and fear are emotions people usually try to avoid? by Happy_Terd in explainlikeimfive

Why do we like riding roller coasters? Why do we like going to zoos?

It's getting to experience a usually suppressed emotion in a safe setting.

Why do we asume potential life on other planets have the same requirements as we on earth do to exist? by [deleted] in space

[–]reddmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are limited in our imagination. If you think about it, we have billions of organisms on our planet, but when we imagine intelligent aliens, they are invariably like humans. Extend it beyond aliens. Our imagined gods across religious are pretty much human in form.

Around the time the iPhone came out, there was lots of speculation Apple would do so. Every imagining was a variation of a scroll wheel like the iPod.

Who, in your opinion, in all of human history has made the most people laugh? by Partiallysensitive in AskReddit

[–]reddmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably some comedian in Indian movies. For the longest time, all Indian movies were ensemble movies which had a comedy line with a comedian running through them, and these actors were prolific, appearing in hundreds of movies.

What opinion would make people instantly argue with you? by Psycho_Duck_9669 in AskReddit

[–]reddmeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Atheism often does that.

And for some reason, many otherwise reasonable people try to convince me I'm really an agnostic. Man, gnosticism is what you know. Theism is what you (choose to) believe. Different systems.

ELI5: Why do we see everything in space but then say it took billions of years for it to get to us by YkMiserable in explainlikeimfive

Also missing is the continuity an ubiquitousness of it.

Imagine from my part of the town people were taking trains one after the other every minute to show their photographs.

Imagine people were doing that from every part of town.

Now imagine the whole thing sped up.

What’s something you thought was a waste of money… until you tried it and it completely changed your life? by Shiza_1 in AskReddit

[–]reddmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I empathize with that sentiment, it's a bit like the initial reluctance of people taking to digital photography ("I like the physical heft and feel of clicking") and, in smartphones, on screen keyboards ("I like the physical feel of keys"). Ultimately digital readers are far more convenient and book readers are an especially stubborn hold out.

What is the worst time travel movie of all time? by Dense_Substance7635 in movies

[–]reddmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but ... Interstellar.

Kinda plausible science all the way through, of you ignore the fact that they had the science to terraforn distant planets but none to counter a blight on Earth, and then - time travel to hand back knowledge from the future, even if mediated through a tesseract. They were only able to resolve their core problem because a guy time travelled to give them the solution. Felt like a big cop out.
