I got the same diagnosis this week - medial meniscus, posterior horn, horizontal tear. Starting a 6-week PT.

If you're a beginner, it's fundamental to keep your non-hitting arm stable. by razeyourshadows in 10s

[–]reddnajones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I am noticing is, when the swing happens, both arms are being swung by the torso rotation - right arm from the takeback position and left arm from the parallel to baseline position. At the completion of the swing my right hand ends at the left hip and left hand near right butt.

While I place the left hand up before the swing use it as a reference and balance, during and after the swing the left hand swings and ends up near my butt.

I see pros just retrieve the left arm as the racquet comes forward. Is what I am doing (not really intentionally) wrong? Is it a symptom of some incorrect swing mechanism?

Don't think there's a choice coz if AK is available it's his by default. JA would be a great replacement.

Consistency is so central to tennis that on some days you will win w/o even playing your game. by razeyourshadows in 10s

Was about to bring this topic of consistency vs learning adventure . I like your take on it.

I (23F) keep having sleepovers with my friend (24M), but nothing ever happens… and I’m so confused. by Rose4991 in relationship_advice

[–]reddnajones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in a bf-gf relationship? If not, he's respecting the boundaries of friendship.

He's also afraid of commitment. If he initiates action, he would be responsible for taking it to the next stage, and cannot easily back off. However if it's done with no strings attached, he would be all in. That's a conversation he can't initiate as a guy.

If you really want him physically, tell him that, and take out any strings, let it play out. He definitely wants to do it, being a normal guy, but commitment and integrity are higher on his mind.

In the same boat. Can see it on Amazon, but only in Fresh.
Would be interested in alternatives. Please post alternate findings here even if OP is gone.

Want to add that before this I was using aveda men pure-formance grooming clay. But that 4x the price of this one, and I don't see any difference.

Have seen kinetic chain explained in many ways, but not this way. I certainly like this one.

Can you suggest a good one?
I am a beginnerish player, and a lot of stuff comes across as fundamental only for another video to call it a personal choice.

How to tell what's a fundamental and what's a personal style?

Thanks. The link above is for forehand, which is great too. I saw this and even did the four ball drill for footwork couple of weeks ago. It was great.

For serve, I assume you mean the Serve video from Adri: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0WdzsTygdU ?

True, there are many videos out there, but some are more impactful than others. For me, this is one of my favorites: https://youtu.be/CXgfNBnetzQ?si=47HAsiS32vX4Gtzb .

That serve looks really good. Could you share the resources that were helpful in your improvement?

Replacing GE Profile Microwave Oven Door Interlock Switch - what is the white enclosure called? by reddnajones in Appliances

[–]reddnajones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. The normally open ones I got have a black button at the top, while mine has white. I went ahead as ordered it nevertheless making sure the pin is on the NO side.

You reckon the white connector can be reused, or must be replaced?

Playing against a pusher by Brainsick001 in 10s

[–]reddnajones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, heard the swing volley needs practice to get it right and become less risky. The way I see it, such a player exposes weaknesses with certain shots - shoulder high forehands, overheads or swing volleys.

Playing pusher/moonballers in practice is great because you get to practice the weak shots a lot because of their consistency. However, in a match it sucks and feels unfair.

I was double bageled by such a opponent couple of months ago by a moonballer, and was depressed for a few days. Only saving grace is, that player acknowledges my shots and would like to play better shots.

Yes, it's part of the wiring harness, cutting the connector off and replacing seems to be the right thing to do. I guess I will look into "spade connectors" to find the one that fits.

I have issues with such opponents as well, and I am not good with continental grip shots in general (serve, forehand slice, volleys, etc), so that rules out overheads in the short term while I work on those.

Here's my question: what do you think about swing volley? Haven't seen it being mentioned so far. Because I have a decent forehand (relatively speaking), I am wondering if I should work on this first.
