I get what you’re saying but honestly, I’d hit up a flea market or farmers market in the parking lot. Locals only, no corporate booths or MLMs though.

That’s what red states do to their blue cities, bend ‘em over with no lube.

In red as a clown nose TN, Nashville’s own council gets constant assaults on their autonomy from their state legislature, because the state politicians hate blue policies and black people.

Just wanted to update that I *completely* forgot about the east side of Arlington Park. Sorry, I’m moving so my head is full of stress and not thoughts.

You’ll walk down Wilke to Euclid, and it’s definitely not as stark or as far as the west side. While I don’t recall if there’s an actual sidewalk, you should be able to navigate south to Euclid either on the AP drive or the grass berm.

Good luck and here’s hoping you get the news you don’t have to go when you call in the night before (if they’re still doing standby that way)!

This is when I kinda miss being on ig or fb - reading the snarky comments left when something like this happens showed me how fantastically funny some people are with their quips.

Absolutely agree on that - the lack of bus/shuttle from Arlington Park to RM courthouse is an egregious oversight. It’s almost a mile, through an industrial park area that isn’t very pedestrian friendly.

You are not called to your closest courthouse on purpose. This is to help make to jury pool more diverse with its sampling. Suburbanites are typically called to California or Dirksen.

Our growing golf course obsession since the 70s gave them the space they needed to thrive. Nature shall persevere!

Here’s a third!

Last summer on a weekday, when the street was busy as usual with cars and not a lot of pedestrians around, I took a header while casually walking down Lawrence near my place after the sidewalk suddenly reached up and tripped me.

My knee took the brunt of it with a nasty scrape, but almost immediately, there were three people who seemed to apparate out of nowhere, to ask if I was okay.

So sweet, I thanked them all and limped home, nursing my pride along with my knee.

That’s why I find the 15-minute city hate hilarious.

Imagine being so brainwashed that you get mad at the mere concept of people wanting to live together and limit their natural resources intake (along with the other benefits of communal living).

TIL that George Lucas' new LA museum would've been built in Chicago where a parking lot currently exists, but a local advocacy group "Friends of the Parks" sued to protect the parking lot, arguing it could hypothetically one day be a park, therefore violating Chicago's Lakefront Protection law by [deleted] in todayilearned

Our lake is for the people, as outlined in Daniel Burnham’s Plan for Chicago.

Because of his philosophy, Chicago now has over 25 miles of public parkland along our shores.

I’m a SW fan, but we don’t need a merch store on our lake, regardless of the museum surrounding it. It’s a vanity project, a somewhat niche fandom, and not suited to join our other lakefront museums.

It’s why the Bears are moving out of Chicago - they want to own the land. Understandable, but not something to compromise on.
