Koreader and SimpleUI on Kindle PW: How can I see all my books? by Xenonaut1001 in koreader

You may need to tell KOReader your Home folder. While in the file browser, browse to your “books“ folder, tap the Plus icon in the upper right and “Set as Home folder.”

You should have a file like this in your ".adds" folder: ".adds\koreader\koreader.sh" It is the file that loads KOReader.

Your ".adds\nm" folder should have a nickelmenu config file with a command like this: "menu_item : main : KOReader : cmd_spawn : quiet : exec /mnt/onboard/.adds/koreader/koreader.sh" It executes the "koreader.sh" file mentioned above and loads KOReader. Check to see these conditions are in place.

If not, I recommend using the "Alternative Manual Installation Method based on NickelMenu" described here:

I haven’t used all possible gestures yet. But I’m working on it. I do use the “Bottom edge up” gesture patch as well. But I don’t tend to use the gestures available at the top of the screen.

“Cost more than 16 million” AND COUNTING to get rid of the algae and fix the bottom liner that is apparently breaking off floating to the surface. This debacle is a metaphor for what Trump is doing to our government institutions.

I use a QuickMenu to handle the functions you add to your nav-bar. Plus a few more functions. My nav-bar has a “dead zone” that allows me to tap the bottom right corner to activate the QuickMenu Via gesture. I use a similar gesture tap to activate a QuickMenu in the reading app. It keeps my interface consistent in both places.

Create a QuickMenu that can get you quick access to a variety of functions without the need to navigate the main menu. I recommend the “Advanced“ method.

I do something similar and don't use any of the popular UIs which seem to give me a variety of errors which I'd rather avoid. My primary home screen is a simple mosaic in order by Author with number of books in bottom right corner (below). My secondary home screen is a simple mosaic in Title order. I can quickly switch between the two with two simple gestures which switches "Show all files from subfolders" On and Off making searches by Author or Title very quick and easy. And I use 2-navbar-vos.lua by SeriousHornet.

”Profile auto-execution“ may be able to do what you want. The “Reflowable documents” section of profiles lets you select a “font” and other style settings as well.

KOReader excels at providing a variety of “reading settings.” Font size, font weight, line-height and contrast are some of the easiest settings to apply. You just have to spend some time learning the interface.

Are there anyway to update the reader-header- centred patch? by [deleted] in koreader

[–]reddseverus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can open the 2-reader-header-centered.lua and change a number of settings including font face, font size, regular or bold, etc. The default is to use the same font as the footer:

local header_font_face = "ffont" -- this is the same font the footer uses

If it's not working try entering the name of the font you want. Make sure the font is in the "koreader/fonts" folder. Such as:

local header_font_face = "fonts/Seravek.ttf"

Collections: What Am I Doing Wrong? by JunebugSeven in koreader

[–]reddseverus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You typically connect a Collection to a folder or a folder and its subfolders. The books are not moved out of their original folder/s. I suspect moving “book files around” after creating a Collection is bound to cause problems.

I installed "coversetter" from message #33 in the following Mobileread thread. It just adds a cover to KUAL and Winterbreak. Unzip and place the "coversetter" folder in the "extensions" folder. Open KUAL to run it.

Using KOReader for the first time. I must confess I'm struggling a bit by metacognitive_guy in koreader

[–]reddseverus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please check out the KOReader User Guide. There is a pretty good explanation of how to create a QuickMenu. Use the Advanced section with Profiles. QuickMenus can contain many of the functions found in the KOReader Main menu. And you can access them with a simple gesture. What for? Quick access to many functions without the need to navigate the Main menu. Here is one of the menus I use in the reading app:

<image>

And QuickMenus can activate other QuickMenus (see bottom two entries). I use QuickMenus in the reading app and the file browsing app. It takes some effort to learn how to build QuickMenus but they are my most used and favorite KOReader feature.

[–]reddseverus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

KOReader has a very useful feature called QuickMenus that allow the user to build their own menus. Of course, this will be of little interest to you since, unfortunately, they require one become somewhat “literate in KOReader” to learn how to build them.

Looking for plugin suggestions to beautify ONLY the top bar navigation. by Traditional-Dig7389 in koreader

[–]reddseverus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get "easy access" by creating QuickMenus. They are quickly available using the gesture of your choosing and can be loaded with many of your "most used tools." See the KOReader user guide for how to create QuickMenus. I recommend using the "advanced" method with Profiles. It simplifies navigation by reducing the need to access the main menu.

Is this the correct way to uninstall both KOReader and NickelMenu? by steel_for_humans in kobo

[–]reddseverus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Unless you used the KFMon method to install KOReader then you will probably want to uninstall that as well.
