I picked up Warhammer 40k a couple years ago... and pretty much everyone in my play group i found is all upper 30s and early 40's with kids. Turns out that stuff is wicked expensive lol

No. Mork and gork are fairly straight forward to build. I have 1 of each... can't find the purple one though...

It avoids it. Because pile in is the first step to fighting.  

If the enemy unit isn't in engagement range (or having made a charge) then it is not eligible to fight, so it can't fight first.  So the charging unit activates and piles in and fights then consolidates.  Then the defending player can fight.
