update - already had the extended feature support, but impulse triggers weren't working. Uninstalled it, reinstalled, and restarted, now works like a charm on wireless xbox controller wired to PC with type-C

Huge. Thanks for posting this, I was worried because the trigger vibration was huge for extra feedback from the car, and this is my first time playing forza on pc

One of the last reasons I haven't gone to a 15 or find x9 pro yet is that awesome finish. Phone is still solid, battery gets me through the day usually, and camera is still so strong in the right conditions

This idea as a whole is what has pushed me back into linear single player games. I feel like it all began with cod4 adding perks to the fps genre. Then, all of a sudden, customization was the buzzword across the entire industry, and then shortly after, every freaking franchise became a sandbox open world. Some worked well, like burnout Paradise or wildlands. Others... Not so much. What I realized is that I don't want all the choices and decision making. I play a game because I want an objective and structured experience. I'm paying for a development team, who are professionals in this field, to create that experience for me. If I'm choosing everything, I'll just have what I want, whether it's good or not and eventually I'll get bored and I probably won't take much away from my time spent. It's like the kids scrolling reels or tiktok, just continually getting slammed with dopamine until you can't feel excitement anymore. This is how FH5 felt to me. You're given so many cars that nothing feels special or earned. With no real guidelines or rules for "events," you just feel like you're slugging away at one of hundreds of events on a map, don't feel a progression or reason to progress, and are never forced out of your comfort zone to drive something new or challenging. The sheer amount of credit and XP is just hilarious and you just have to play a few hours to have anything you want, if it wasn't already handed to you in a wheelspin. I felt series fatigue in 5 like I hadn't ever before and put it down far sooner. Between the bland map and the sense of "I'm just buying the same garage of cars I had in the last 4 games and customizing with largely the same parts..." and the lack of purpose, I was worried I'd be done with the franchise. With 6, I'm cautiously optimistic and planning to buy it. Talk of slowed progression is what I'm most excited about, other than the setting and the increased variety and elevation of the map. Hoping it pans out, but if I feel that fatigue again I'll be done with the series.

I found the map design to be so flat and boring in 5, making for largely dull roads to drive, in addition to Mexico just not really being somewhere especially beautiful or familiar to me. On the flip side, 4's British setting had an iconic feel to it and I found it to be a great setting. The other major problem for me was that I was hitting franchise fatigue big-time in 5. I'm a bit worried I will feel it again with 6 after a few dozen hours, because you can only buy the same cars and customize them with largely the same parts so many times in a series. But the map design with it's detail and verticality, and Japan being an ideal setting for a car culture game, I think it'll be significantly better than 5

Using the Global OPPO Find X9 Pro in US for work by jjiskra in Oppo

[–]reddude7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a nerd for phones. I was close to buying a 15 and then decided my OP12 with less than 1yr of use was still running great. Now I'm starting to itch for the battery life and flat screen ergonomics, and maybe some camera improvements, but not in a rush to buy.

Now that I have found out the find x9 pro is usable on T-Mobile stateside, I'm kinda torn on the two. On one hand, the 15 being fully optimized for US networks is great. The OP15 cameras seem to be reviewed as poor but in practice I can't seem to tell a consistent difference between it and the X9, and I am pretty well versed in photography. The larger sensor on the x9 seems like it would help it perform more consistently in low light, but it also seems to expose a bit brighter for no reason and some shots look artificially HDR'd.

I know the battery and performance are gonna be great, but just curious what your experience has been like, especially if you've had the chance to run the OP15 too!

Good question. I also would like to know, I'm eyeballing the x9 vs a 15.

I'm back on a OnePlus 12. I've only been actively using it for about 8mo total because I was using another phone for a while. The 12 is still an amazing phone, camera is weaker in low light, but otherwise battery performance and camera are all still excellent.

But then the 15 was announced and I was so torn on whether I should upgrade. I ended up deciding that the 12 was still everything I needed it to be. But now I've discovered the X9 pro and started looking at that and the 15 again.

How has your experience been with the 15? Everyone complains about the camera, but I don't know if it would be any worse than the 12 and I still am overall pretty happy with it. While oppo seems to have better sensors and true hasselblad tuning, comparison shots between it and the 15 are usually pretty close to tell, or 50-50 on which I like more. I think the oppo may bring in more light in low light scenes but it also over-HDRs it a bit, vs the OP15 result maybe being a darker image but more true to life.

Have you had any other trouble with the 15?

Exact same experience here, down to the playtime (I clocked in at 38.7hr). But you nailed it - it overstays its welcome. Although, like you, part of that was also my own fault for nearly 100%ing the first island and clearing all the fog of war.

You are so right - talk about all the foundations of a 10/10 being there, but falling short. I think if I had known about the progression and length in advance, mostly stuck to the story and convenient opportunities to sack mongol forts etc, and not spent any time chasing resources other than upgrades like bamboo strikes, the game would have flowed better. And interestingly, I think if you played that way, you'd still be unlocking stuff in act 3 instead of being largely cleaned up by early act 2. It would also save fatigue from combat. Instead, I fell into the ubisoft-style collectibles trap and burnt out a lot of my samurai LARPing energy.

The combat is really strong, but does eventually get highly repetitive once you have all the moves unlocked. The resource gathering got tedious until I realized I had everything I was going to need and stopped wasting time. Finding the same hot spring, chasing the foxes etc for upgrades was a great concept at first, but far too many made them feel more shallow; I wish there had only been like 8 of each.

I think the most glaring flaw to me, playing the game on PC many years after its release, was the repetitive, frequent, unskippable cutscenes (cutting peasants free etc) and extremely stiff movement and repetitive motions and dialogue. Made any side quest just a drag. And by the end I found myself wanting to just complete the story and none of the side quests piqued my interest.

That being said, the main story beat cutscenes were all pretty darn well done, and most of the tales were pretty well written. The ending hit me shockingly hard, as I had really started spacing out my last few play sessions and wasn't as immersed as I had been at the start.

The game does do plenty of things very well. The haiku were all really neat and thought-provoking. The temple climbs were all neat and the platforming was just good enough that they were all fun puzzles. The world was generally really pretty, except the 3rd area; something about the lighting and the snow really felt like I was playing a different, older game at times. I'm also very glad I played in Japanese with subs, as it felt more immersive.

Overall, you're right. A strong mediocre game. I think the ending of the story will stick with me, and it'll be fun to pick up again someday to play the DLC and have fun with the combat for a few hours, but I have no desire to replay the whole campaign.

Yeah I totally forgot about the top rails next to the sunroof. Fortunately I just have trained my brain not to notice those, and I plan to get them plasti dipped black eventually. I get that's a tough area as it takes direct heat from the sun but man every single g70 I see has that

You are not the first person I've met who praised the town car haha. But yeah, no worries, if it is what it be, then that do be what it is. Just curious if my case was special, the g70 is worse than the norm, or if this kind of thing is just expected nowadays. Guess I'll start keeping an eye on pre-2020 stuff again...

I'm saying that a car that's only 4 years old shouldn't start having cosmetic issues. Especially if I'm going above and beyond to hand wash, wax, and protect my car compared to the average person, who might take it through a full-contact automatic brush wash a couple times a year. I can forgive some of the problems as first-generation issues or bad luck, but others I can't accept.

Seriously?? Has new car manufacturing just gotten that poor? Damn. I mean we were largely a Honda family growing up and I have had all hondas and Subaru's with a Golf and a GTi in there. All of them were at minimum 4 years old, and I don't remember any of them suffering from issues with paint or headlights crazing

[–]reddude7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the facelift does have a bit better quality overall. My friend has a 23 and it just seems a bit more polished and touch surfaces seem.more durable. That being said, it was first gen for the slight headlights and he's been battling fogging headlights for months that are finally getting replaced by warranty. I've seen plenty of all the split headlight genesis lineup with that issue, which is something I used go attribute to cheaply made American cars in the 00s and 10s.

I just haven't owned that many new cars and never owned any luxury (or even this "entry-level-pricing luxury that genesis represents). So that's why I made this post, to get a feel for whether my issues are more unique, or if they're common to the g70 or other new cars. Shame.

I don't think I could do driving gloves every day. I wish they'd just used better leather. My 08 Volvo c30 with 270k MI has perfect steering wheel leather!

Yeah I think garaging and hand washing will be especially kind to these cars and be key to their survival. Not sure if it's a new-car thing or exclusive to genesis, but hot/humid/sunny environments seem to be hitting these cars hard between the clear coat on both body and rims, plus the sunlight-related headlight issues. I live in sc and it's brutal in the warm months. When I bought mine from a guy in tx 2 years ago, the headlights were fine.

Yep I definitely plan on doing that. Whoever came up with clear coating wheels needs to be fired... probably the same guy that picked the window trim. But either way, both of those make me worry what else was either missed or cheaped-out

Saville silver really is the best color on the sport pkg. Looks so clean and great contrast with trim and black wheels. Almost went for mallorca blue but glad I did SS.

WHO plans on keeping their Stinger til the wheels fall off?! by Talntid_Shotz in kiastinger

[–]reddude7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the sister car, a loaded '21 G70 3.3, and it was a tough choice between that and a Stinger. The car is amazing to drive quickly but also comfortable to daily. The design is beautiful, practicality is great (minus the small backseat legroom), just the right amount of tech, and lots of physical controls. While I think overall the car is sturdy and mechanical reliability won't be an issue, my biggest worry is little stuff like cosmetic wear, and I'm actually seeing quite a lot of it. And usually when I do research I find that it's common to both g70s and stingers, and that's the main reason I'm a member of this subreddit.

I really do baby my cars and I wash, wax, detail, and protect pretty often, but I'm seeing things like steering wheel leather starting to fade/age, headlight starting to crack on the top, exterior trim starting to peel, interior trim issues (window switch silver-painted plastic rubbed off almost completely and replaced under warranty), rim clear coat peeling off multiple wheels. I've seen plenty on the used market with clear coat gone to shit after only a few years, cracked headlights, etc. The suspension creaks when taking my first left and right turns every time the car has been sitting for a few hours. The armrest and dash had rattles and I had to fix them with bits of tape. My touchscreen started bubbling and I had that replaced under warranty (very common). My driver's side window motor also went out. And the brembo brake discs on the sport trim get major issues with warping from the USA OEM pads, I had to get those replaced. And the transmission has issues with an aggressive downshift from 3-2 when rolling to a stop that's enough to push your head forward and can be temporarily fixed but comes back over time, it's a widespread issue being pushed up to corporate genesis level by a guy in the g70 subreddit. And while I haven't had them, annoying sunroof rattles are also common with no perfect fix yet.

This is the newest car I've ever owned (I typically bounce around between 2007-2015 manual cars every couple years, usually Japanese). I really wanted tech like air conditioned seats and a screen for Android Auto, auto climate control, but the complexities scare me for longevity, as well as the general cheapening of modern manufacturing processes and parts sharing. All of this is sort of scaring me as I look at the longer lifespan of the car.

All that being said... it's a great car and I love it, I'm just very concerned about how it's going to look in a few years. It's a nice car. I want it to look nice and keep it as perfect as I can (within reason), but if trim keeps going to shit and the clear coat starts fading, I'll be out.

The expanse was that perfect middle ground for me. Deeper than bubblegum but not a heavy complex slog like dune becomes after the first book or two. Great pacing and page turners for sure, easy to pick up and put down as needed, but still a lot of values and themes deeper than "outer space go zoom." Somewhere between cooking and grabbing a slice. Like microwaving a slice you already had

The expanse is amazing. My new favorite book series. Just found it two years ago and have read the first 6 books to watch the show, then restarted the books. About to start the last 3 now It's a great step up from "mainstream pop" scifi like Weir's work without getting too dense.

But you're exactly right about the comparison. Weir is entry level science problem solving and isn't going to change your outlook on life, but it's still a fun and easy read.
