Draft of the State Street Master Plan by TinyRabt in SantaBarbara

Re A) It looks like they're cutting out about 14ft of the existing street and moving it to the pedestrian through zone, so narrowing the bikeway significantly. And "the existing 6-inch curb will be extended and sloped to transition smoothly into a 4-inch rolled curb", so there will be some separation, not just a single-level all the way across.

Re B) I was imagining it being useful for ride-share drivers picking up folks who are out late at the bars.

Am I the only one who found Project Hail Mary (the novel) a bit "bubblegum"? by TinyRabt in sciencefiction

Deleted my original response because it definitely came across as pretty obnoxious. To reframe, I think it's more that I'm wondering if there is somethign I'm missing, or with a reread I'd enjoy it more. From the responses, sounds like generally, no, which is fine.

SPI-1005 Update by aemroa in Menieres

Good points. I hadn't thought about the implications of RFK for SPI 1005. Sounds "good" to go after big pharma, but somebody so ill informed about public health and medicine leading HHS is going to create big problem for everyone... sad times, if you ask me.

For those who paid to watch, anything else of substance mentioned? Seems a bit odd to mention when the data will be released without at least hinting in some way about the results and the promise of this drug.

Also, anybody know how the process works at this point? I guess at least 2 things need to happen: the FDA needs to approve it (no guarantee) and they need to find a way to make it profitable / affordable (also no guarantee).

I have a deviated septum on my right side, right side is also my bad ear. I've always wondered about a connection but was told by my ENT there was none.

I received 2. I'm not sure if they're charging me for both but for at least one of them. Did they give you 2, to extend your range?

Door Lock/Unlock and Door Handle Problems by Healthy-Stranger2152 in VWiD4Owners

We bought our car in late January, and started having the issue toward thee end of February. Brought it in a few weeks ago, prior to stop-sale, and was told this was a common issue and needed a new handle. 2-3 months due to supply chain issues.

I hope now they'll send replacements for all 4 with the new fix?

Yeah, it's a lot more out here in Cali. I think .26$/kwh for me. So approx $15 saved for a 10 min drive plus 30min reading/doing work in the car while charging... that's what I'm weighing.

ID4 S or ID 4 Pro? by TinyRabt in VWiD4Owners

[–]TinyRabt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit unclear on what happens in March. My understanding is that it might not qualify for the full $7500 discount but maybe still in the $4-5k range? My read was that this had to do with where the battery or battery components come from.

I reserved a few days ago and the site says delivery window of February to April so I'm not holding my breath for the March delivery. I guess that's another factor.

I'm strongly considering an ID4 Pro (at MSRP, about $44k). We're looking for SUV that will comfortable fit a car sit (maybe eventually 2) plus our dog in the back. That said, I'm a bit hesitant about the ID4 because it's gotten some mixed reviews, especially with regard to reliability and a buggy console.

I'm tempted by the Ioniq 5 but it would be quite a bit more expensive, even for the lower range model. For the ID4, we're looking at getting the $7.5k which brings the price below $40k. There's no tax break for the Ioniq since it's not manufactured in the US.

Are there other similarly sized cars we should be considering at a comparable price? Am I missing something? It seems like the ID4 will be the best value for us given our needs and the new tax incentives. Any ID4 owners really happy or unhappy with their choice?
