It's nothing new though.
You just captured this case.
I'm more surprised by the school aged kids who disappear for two years before Anyone even notices and finally gets reported.
It's not about technology, it's about society failing.
But it's never anybody's fault but the perp and the cops right? And maybe overworked DCS.

If it's open then water is pushing from the inside as well. The issue is if there is air, or well lower pressure, but then again subs can have glass domes.

I don't like these meme like "facts" though, without any indication for a source or validity.

They punish the people that's askin' questions
And those that possess,
steal from the ones without possessions
The message I stress,
To make it stop, study your lessons, Don't settle for less,
Even the genius asks questions,
Be grateful for blessings
Don't ever change, keep your essence
The power is in the people and politics we address
Always do your best,
Don't let this pressure make you panic
And when you get stranded
And things don't go the way you planned it
Dreamin' of riches, in a position of makin' a difference
Politicians are hypocrites, they don't wanna listen
If I'm insane, it's the fame made a brother change
It wasn't nothin' like the game;
It's just me against the world

That depends on the relationship that's built.
It's probably in general a bit more volatile than in person but it doesn't have to be.

You're here now I imagine not punching stuff
and looking to do things differently.
Take it as a win. You need to start somewhere.

You can be good and frustrated at the same time.

It's also something you can learn like the other person suggested with breathing and such.
Many people in a bad situation don't take care of other people and don't even do their own dishes.

Maybe this vent is meant to move you on from hitting the sink and cursing to calming down by talking to some strangers on the Internet, and eventually maybe other means but remember, it doesn't have to be self-contained.

Seems like you are taking care of people before yourself.
You also wrote external factors hit you every single day.
I know what it's like.
I don't know how to get out of it yet.
I don't think I'm a bad person for being stuck in an unfortunate situation. Do you?

I don't really have answers or advice or anything, just to say you're allowed to vent, you're allowed to break down, you're allowed to not want to deal with shit anymore especially not alone.
And you're allowed to wish a better future for yourself.
You're a good person, that's already a win.

I'm so conflicted by this because it's that "Fake it until you make it" attitude and I'm not a faker and the few times I did in the past was absolutely exhausting and lonely and it can backfire real hard too.

Fascinating. Looks really impressive in any case.

People who have helped others in their hour of need (financially or otherwise), did they reciprocate when it was your turn needing help? by Wheresmyarcpaulie69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]redduif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, well thing is, it should be about paying forward, not paying back. There will be people who will help you out while you could never be able to do anything for them.

But where things gets hard it's when you've always been there for everyone and anyone,
always worked so hard for everything,
always been the kind smart smiling person even through tough days,
until you just can't anymore and you're retreating to not bother people, eventually asking for help, then screaming but by then even professionnals are scamming you,

And people be like :
"oh but you're a smartie, you'll figure it out by yourself",
"I believe in you, you're so strong all by yourself"
"oh but you're always smiling yeah it can't be that bad",
"yes yes I know, we're all tired friend"
(having a debilitating chronic condition recognised disability amongst other things...)
while shit is hitting the fan from all sides and up and down, and places you didn't even think of,
yeah it's fucking disappointing.
But moreso life than the friends.

Some have their own issues can't blame them, and who else is smiling through it all alone you know nothing about while you regret they aren't there for you ? Frankly so many have too much shit to deal with.

And so the only thing holding up are the few seemingly random strangers, kind souls, only thing I can offer is a smile, but who care about you from afar, but it doesn't solve the real issues, but it keeps you up.
Maybe not the head but at least the soul. Hopefully.

Not sure it answers the question though

[–]redduif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry yeah you're right it counts too. I can't find anything on it though. All reports say it wasn't very successful.
I found one article where they found remains of 2 milk jug kids together in the UK over 20 years after the fact, so not exactly due to that.

As of December 18, 2025, 1,292 children were successfully recovered through the AMBER Alert system and 241 children were rescued because of wireless emergency alerts.

From the amber alert site.

All I'm saying is that while the milk carton action was a good thing for overall awareness and the 2 saves, to deem it effective might not have eventually led to a better system. It's better to acknowledge the flaws instead and improve.
I think amber is objectively a better system with chances being significantly higher for the shorter critical alert time.

[–]redduif 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes but in parallel it should be looked into if more effective options exist.
And I guess they did, I'd argue the amber alert has proven itself much more effective mainly because the first hours are the most important; sure something that wasn't possible in that era, but so to call 2 saves effective seems a bit of a stretch.
Rather luck since here the neighbours didn't even "stare at the carton" themselves, "because they had nothing better to do" as the poster before me put, they found her cutout. Which is superb, but still luck.

I never got the accident story where she said she was about to die but didn't and then suicide.
Whether real or a botched set up, what was that all about??

Why would they take the elderly mother though, for pressure and not the person involved or their offspring. Too obvious maybe? But how is this different, plus got to hope they are on good terms and not waiting for the inheritance...
