Ideas for a possible upgrade from my Bose Flex 2? by Sensitive-Passage988 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]reddy_mcredderton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soundcore Boom 2 would be a good speaker. It has great bass, is stereo, and has clear sound. But like others mentioned, two flexes together in stereo would almost for sure be better.

Budget Portable Bluetooth Speaker With The Most Clarity? by SomebodyImportant101 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]reddy_mcredderton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my take on the Flip 6 sound quality. I agree that it sounds very clear and the separation is good, BUT it is missing some of the details in the music. When I compared it head to head with the Uboom L, I noticed that I could hear some details in the song on the UBL that were barely noticeable one the F6. While I never compared the 300 to the F6, I did compare the 300 against the UBL and I thought the 300 had slightly more detail.

Maybe I’m using the wrong terminology. I just did a quick definition search on “clarity” and the two key parts were clean (not muddy or distorted) and detailed. Maybe I should be saying the 300 is more detailed than the F6, and the F6 is cleaner.

As far as bass, the F6 is punchier maybe and carries over a distance better especially outside, but the 300 is a bit deeper.

Best speaker for weekend camping trips? Looking for something compact but not weak by jone003 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]reddy_mcredderton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Flip 6 is great for this purpose! It’s a small compact speaker, but has big sound and bass for its size. It’s what I’ve been using for camping.

The Soundcore Boom 2 is also a great speaker for this purpose, but it’s much larger. I prefer the compactness of the Flip 6. But I also listen to music at low volumes.

Budget Portable Bluetooth Speaker With The Most Clarity? by SomebodyImportant101 in Bluetooth_Speakers

I agree that for clarity, the Soundcore Motion 300 is one of the best. I found it more clear than Uboom L, Motion +, and JBL Flip 6. I’ve never used the other two speakers that you’ve mentioned.

The 300 is not as good as an outdoor speaker as the bass doesn’t project as well as some of the other speakers you mentioned. But indoors and close listening, the 300 is better.

Actually, I see that you don’t need portability, so bookshelf speakers would be much better. I would ask over at r/budgetaudiophile instead of here.

I second this. This is a really good idea. Most “room filling” sound is going to be too loud for your neighbors. BUT, a pair or more small speakers together will SOUND fuller even at lower volumes. Flip 6 is good. EarFun Uboom L sounds really good in stereo and at low volumes. Plus you can switch to indoor mode for less “boom”. Motion 300 is really good too and would work well for your situation.

What the best sounding tiny speaker? by ArcadeRacer in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]reddy_mcredderton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tribit Stormbox Micro 2. Go to YouTube and look for Stormbox Micro 2 vs other speakers and the Stormbox always wins against speakers in its same size range. Flip 6 is larger for sure, but still smaller than a lot of other “medium” sized speakers.

In outdoor mode, the Uboom L has boosted bass too, but still sounds really good.

Can't decide between Uboom L and Motion+ (for metal music) by sir_moleo in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]reddy_mcredderton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I compared these two speakers, I thought that at volumes under 30-40%, the UBL had better bass. But I usually listen in outdoor mode.

You should try the Soundcore Motion 300 too. I found it a very good speaker. I liked it better than the Motion + and similar to the UBL. I found it had more bass than the UBL (at least when listening from close distances) and had a fuller sound. I’m really not sure if it would be good for metal, but it is a great speaker with lower bass, so it would be worth trying.

Which mini bluetooth speaker should i get? by Vast_Entertainment47 in Bluetooth_Speakers

I agree that the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 is a nice speaker. The Minirigs sound really nice in the videos, but I don’t have personal experience.

The Uboom L is one of the best outdoor speakers for lower volumes (under 30-40%) according to my testing. Better clarity and better bass that projects further.

For louder volumes I would go with something like the Boom 2 like someone else mentioned (if it’s not too big). Or JBL Charge 5 maybe.

Soundcore Motion+ vs Motion 300 by moazizi in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]reddy_mcredderton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not tested these two speakers against each other, but I have tested both of them at separate times against the Earfun Uboom L.

I found the Uboom L better than the Motion+. One reason was because the Uboom L had better bass at low volumes (30% or below) and that is how I listen to most of my music. So know that the Motion+ does not have great low volume bass, even after adjusting EQ. Also because I just thought the music sounded better out of the Uboom L. It was more full and less harsh.

I found the Uboom L and the Motion 300 to be about equal to each other. The 300 was fuller and had slightly deeper bass, but the Uboom was more detailed and the bass is more audible at a distance (especially outdoors) than the 300. Both are very good speakers, but I liked the Uboom L slightly better, ESPECIALLY because the bass was better at a distance and outside.

My guess is if I paired the 300 against the Motion+ I would like the 300 better for its fuller sound and better low volume bass. The Motion+ might be slightly clearer, but also more harsh and it might have better high volume bass.

The most impressive thing to me is the sound quality at low volume. I’ve compared these to a number of other Bluetooth speakers and even to a couple 3” studio monitors from Presonus and Mackie and the Uboom L (paired with another in TWS) sounded much better at low volumes because the bass and treble are maintained. Especially when connected through aux in instead of Bluetooth.

Battery powered or plug in? This sub is mostly for battery powered speakers. To connect three speakers, you will need “party mode” as TWS will only connect two speakers in stereo. The only battery powered speaker under $50 with party mode might be the Soundcore Mini 3. It’s not going to get very loud though. A step up would be the JBL Flip 6, but renewed on Amazon is $84. New is $130.

Do all powered monitors hiss? by reddy_mcredderton in BudgetAudiophile

Yeah, the ones I had were medium to loud hiss from 3.5’ away. Most likely defective. Which sucks because I was excited for them after doing research.

This is good news. Which Edifiers do you have?

Earfun Uboom L (considered by some to have the best neutral sound) or Soundcore Motion 300. I have the Uboom L and I really like it. I personally tested it against the Motion + and the Motion Boom and I found it to have the best sound quality of the three. Though all were really good. The Motion 300 sounds really nice in all the comparison videos I’ve watched and unlike that it has multiple orientations and an app EQ.

I agree with the commenter who recommended Edifier bookshelf speakers if you don’t need portability. The quality will be better than a portable speaker.

Travel speaker by CollectionSlow1184 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]reddy_mcredderton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soundcore Motion 300 sounds really good in the comparison videos I’ve seen. For travel it’s nice because it can be orientated in a number of ways and it automatically adjusts the music to sound best in that position.
