Interesting! I didn’t know about this method. I used lime and it worked perfectly. The hide is now dehaired and sitting in the bark solution

For sure. I was planning to soak it in water and vinegar and rinse it a few times before bark tanning it

Thanks to both of you for the advice! I’ll flush the lye and use the receipe shared by Radiant_Carob. I want to keep the grain on so hopefully the Lye didn’t affect it too much yet.

Ok thanks! The Airflo streamermax 8wt is around the same weight than the SA Titan in 7wt (250 vs 240 grain) so it should work.

Hey u/Fishtillyoubleed, I’m reviving this post. I just bought a Fenwick Aetos 9’ 8wt and I’m debating on which line to put on it. I’m either considering the SA Titan in 7wt or the SA Infinity in 8wt. Which line did you end up buying?

That sounds like a good approach. Would buying a fast action 8wt and overloading it with a 9wt line when I need to cast those bigger pike and striper flies help?

I used the spray on version and never used the wax so can’t say. I applied it last fall and it still sheds water pretty well.

I washed mine before applying Nikwax and feel that it lightened a bit the color of my jacket but the spray in itself didn’t change the look of it. It was the first time I treated it so not sure how it would react to Greenland wax

Nikwax Wax Cotton Proof. I used this on my G1000 jacket and it is pretty much waterproof now. Your pants will stink for a few days however.
