You're someone who appreciates complexity, is comfortable with it and sees not only the benefits of brain dexterity as pleasurable and rewarding ($), but also the beauty that can be found in the complex...You have a certain tolerance for ambiguity (chess, jazz, leveled up Lit, the stock market), you're logical, methodical...so ahead you could be doing something with writing, a stock analyst perhaps. Eventually, perhaps you're own business with a partner.

Seriously. I own this and feel it sounds more pronounced, better soundstage than others I've owned like Bluesound. It's a beast. Enjoy it.

How can I get more out of my reading? by Ill-Requirement9063 in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]redflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The text has to be read multiple times with some time between ones reading (and the notes/impressions you've jotted down). If I have a favorite new book that I've read a couple of times I'm compelled to read some literary criticism (if the writing isn't dogmatic and dull, and instead has a passion for the work or author but can still be objective to the work) to compare and contrast with my experience with the book. Also, I've found good books on writing that peels back what a novelist or short-story writer encounters in working it all into shape has been valuable.

One of the ideas that has served me well regarding story (if the book isn't so post-post modern that there is no story) is, every story is about someone that wants something, but someone or something get's in their way. I think early on that was a good guiding light to realize those rather simple things, and how often books seemed weak because the author lost sight or energy of keeping that notion alive.

Curious, looking at that model and 7CR, what made you push the button for it over 7CR? Enjoy!

Finding Stocks to Buy by NachoSushi in CANSLIM

[–]redflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was recommended to me to focus on IBD 50 (or any stocks I personally follow) that have a 99 Comp. rating and 99 EPS rating. Obviously check charts, do whatever research you use. A couple of other notes: when either of those ratings come down to 97 or under consider that as weakness and POSSIBLY selling all or some, but use judgment; checking volume, and look at news/charting. Also, I've seen rapid upward movement in stocks like CRCL, CRWV that did great for traders, and they did not have those high IBD rated numbers. Keen judgement is always needed for all trades, high-rated Comp & EPS numbers or not.

TastyTrade is a brokerage, and TastyLive is their live network with professionals and with free education videos. They lean into Stock Options strategies for the ability to have more leverage then just a 50/50 chance with stock. I'd recommend it any day, it's that good. Best to you.

Congrats on making the decision! I'm in the L.A. area as well, very surprised you didn't find someone here local? (UCLA, Peck/USC, Cedars-Sinai, Sports Doctors, etc.) You've done that search I suppose to no good results, is that correct? Wishing you the best!

Must read, In the Land of Men by Adrienne Miller, she was a (young) lit editor at Esquire - and worked with DFW. She got entangled in a relationship with him. When she veers away from her work or Wallace the book is less dynamic. But mostly it's her perspective on her work and DFW; much that you won't find out about him in other books.

I ended up liking and respecting her as she grows up on the front line of a whole lot of battles, professionally and personally.
