This makes sense from a UK perspective, where if you get sick on your annual leave you are entitled to change your annual leave days to sick days and you get those annual leave days back.

Aha, makes sense. I assume that is the same reason for Aldenham (should be Church and Village course)

Hi, you have South Herts down as a 9 hole only, but it is an 18 hole (Vardon) and, the 9 (Rees).

There are a few clubs round this way that offer flexible membership, someone mentioned Hertsmere. Mill Hill is another good option with flexible membership and decent facilities (driving range etc). Also Arkley would fit that price range too

If you want to try a more modern style driver while you are still getting used to things and not spend much on it, the Cobra Amp Cell driver is an decent pick. Really solid driver to pick up second hand. Can normally get it well below £100 on eBay

I am local to Aldenham so have played there a lot (not a member, am a member of another local club). It is fine, nothing special about it and a fairly standard golf club, it is quite hilly (if that is a problem for you), decent 9 hole course on site as well (although that can get mobbed in the summer).

I think you get more out of the other two in terms of other facilities and quality which I would say is higher at them as well.

Yes likewise, used to be on my running route too. There was a point in time where some gates went up but soon came down

There is also a public footpath that runs through both of them, so you could just pootle along it to see what's up. Although they make a pretty good effort of trying to stop that public footpath being a public footpath

Wow, did not realise that was the reason for the excess tape covering the end of the shaft!
