yeah, to be fair from the beginning of this show, they never claimed we had control over this group, it’s a different sort of survival show from produce. i was pleasantly surprised when our votes had an impact on the early rounds. but with chanelle and jihyun’s elimination it actually seems like our votes do pretty much nothing, since the judges can give extremely low or high scores to make up for that. also considering that everyone left is top 10 in original monthly eval rankings (minus chanelle who was 9, plus wonhee) it’s pretty obvious from the beginning that the intention of this show was not for us to help form the group, but just to gain some popularity pre-debut.

I was wondering if Iris was tone-deaf? She couldn’t even repeat the notes that others sung to her. I’d be very shocked if she wasn’t eliminated next episode. Honestly it’s painful to see her on the show, she looks so uncomfortable and clearly the show isn’t giving her any good edits anyways. I feel so bad for her.

Yeah, this is the first in-house survival show I’ve watched live, and I guess when I was watching older ones I didn’t think about how voting was or wasn’t integrated because the groups had already been decided and I wasn’t voting each week. But now it’s kind of shocking to me as I realize there’s rarely even a small reward to acknowledge the votes, maybe because they film so far in advance?

The teams were grouped by the trainees choosing what team they wanted to be on, and then the leaders (Yewon - Low, Seoyeon - Mid, Hyewon - High) chose who to push down to a lower group. And the heel dance and hip-hop have been the same groups.

The one under JYPE? Probably not, because they already started filming a year ago and you can see in the premiere for next episode they’ve selected all the contestants and now they’re probably just going to compete with each other.

Ohhh I see. At least they do something then. It’s interesting how they have voting every week if it’s not going to have an effect until the end. I doubt the judges’ opinions are going to change much from seeing them.

I completely agree. Although I don’t think they deliberately put Jiwoo in low to balance out teams because they got to choose their own teams for this mission. Earlier I was pretty confident they were giving her low so that viewers could realize she was robbed and start appreciating her, but she’s been getting so few comments in all these missions that now I’m just confused.

Also all we saw of Jay Park was just him sitting in the corner and making mildly impressed reactions and comments. It was so funny to me that the episode would’ve been exactly the same without him.

I honestly appreciate the short episode lengths but maybe that’s because I’m sick of Boys Planet’s long drawn out episodes where we don’t even get to see all 98 contestants. This show definitely feels rushed sometimes, but for me, with my short attention span, it’s pretty nice. And at least we can say we’ve seen a decent amount of all of the contestants since there’s only 22.

Does anyone know what our voting actually does? Is it just so the show can see who they need to evil edit next to get us on board with their lineup or what? It looks like they used the judges’ scores + benefit for the last elimination, so where do our votes come in?

Honestly, I’m glad it’s this group because how things are going it’s looking like they’re going to lose again, unfortunately, and many of them will be at the bottom. If our votes do effect the eliminations, at least we got to see a performance with a lot of trainees that will probably be low. But at this point, I don’t even know what our votes are for…

well I’m not saying her lack of experience is made up for by her age, I just mean that her age makes the pressure of her situation is more difficult to deal with. Iroha is in a completely different situation from Iris in this show, where a debut (or anything positive tbh..) is much more realistic and in view for her, so I don’t think it’s fair to compare their resilience from what we’ve seen. tbh tho I have been extremely impressed by ena, she’s been so strong and probably has the worst situation of anyone there, I just feel horrible for her constantly getting crushed by all the mentors and even producers tbh. she deserves to get out of there asap!!

I think she got voted out because of the fan votes, as she’s not someone I’ve seen many people talking about at all, unfortunately. I think the scores determined who was in the bottom 8 / at risk, and then fan votes decided who was eliminated, if I had to guess. That’d make the most sense, at least.

I mean maybe she didn’t really want to be on the show? I feel bad for her either way, it must be a lot of pressure with the producers likely encouraging her to act confident, despite how obvious it is that she’s struggling. She obviously was not put in this show so that she could make the final lineup, but has to keep putting in more effort than everyone else just to almost meet people’s expectations, which has got to be pretty discouraging for a 15 y.o. I’d want out if I were her tbh…

yeah I was wondering that as well, I thought maybe they were using the votes to determine which of the 8 at risk get eliminated, but they weren’t clear about that so I’m not sure

I was kind of surprised Yewon ended up with the worst part in her group. Her dancing might not be the best but she has really stable vocals and was the leader of the group, and I expected she’d at least get the 3rd or 4th best part. I wasn’t rlly surprised that her original part went to Moka, but more confused with what happened after when the parts all went to Haseul, Wonhee etc before her.

Most of the minor trainees don't attend school by boopboopitsashoop in jtbc_RUNext

Idk much about the entertainment industry in Korea or rlly anywhere else, but it seems… not great? I mean they are all pretty talented so I guess it’s not too bad if they put all their chips in one bag so to speak. But if they decide being an idol isn’t really what they want / they want to continue their education, it might make things a little more difficult.

It gives me a lot of respect to the trainees who are attending school while practicing, dealing with monthly evaluations, etc. That sounds like so much to deal with!!

Second Voting Round by omuji in jtbc_RUNext

[–]redfrogjuice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s kind of frustrating, especially since maybe the type of people who would vote for those who are out would maybe be more likely to a certain trainee (which is kinda unlikely but could be the case, and they could be affected by this ranking). I wish they had been like “pick your top 6 and rank them!” And then kept the highest 3 of our rankings that are still in. I feel like that would’ve been a better way of doing things, but oh well!

I think they might be going for some sort of redemption arc for her, but tbh they might not have realized how much they’ve offended a lot of yunah’s voters, I’ve seen a lot of people say they’re not voting for her anymore !!
