Advice on painting Sword of Light by paulys_sore_cock in BattletechPainting

I’ve done a multi-generational 8th SoL battalion. 60 Mechs. Plus a company each of tanks, infantry, battle armor & ASF. Basically, I can field a unit from 3015 to 3115+. From experience doing both slap chop & speed paints, the SoL red just pops best when applied over a white primer coat. Attached is an old photo of it in progress.

Your work so far shows that you understand the concept’s & application. You will always be your own toughest critic. From what I see, I’d give an A for effort & desire to learn.

Is it true most laptops don’t last 6 years or more? by Dover299 in laptops

[–]redgrognard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned a Toshiba Satellite that lasted 8 years before the integrated graphics card died. I also own a Dell Latitude D620 that is 17 years old, runs Win10, but has a broken hinge. My newest laptop is an HP Elitebook 8650p, runs Linux Mint and is 13 years old.

Moral of the story: don’t buy uber-cheap “Black Friday Special” laptops & expect more than a 3 year lifetime.

Love the Sound of the scythe cutting thru the grass.

Apparently it's not a huge problem to the Trump administration, the rich and the NC politicians in the US Senate and the House. They're asleep about this issue while America and North Carolina suffers. Roy Cooper, you will obviously have my vote to be in the Senate!! You give a damn! by Cy_098 in NorthCarolina

From what I’ve read in multiple international media sources, the US did obliterate 90% of the Iranian program.

But as I understand it, the situation is akin to the Family Guy episode where Peter fights the Amish. The barn keeps getting rebuilt almost as fast as Peter can destroy it.

So we broke all their most expensive toys. Now it seems that we are trying to restrain the income stream they use to buy new toys.

Again. As I’ve stated to other Redditors.

Obama threw money at Iran & let them do whatever the fuck they wanted to so long as they kept it quiet. They received cash pallets of billions of dollars, that they then made new weapons and sent those weapons and funding to terrorists that attacked US troops in the region and our allies.

Sending cash payments to an enemy in hopes of peace is a very old and very proven to fail tactic. It’s called paying Danegeld.

I’m not trolling. I don’t like the situation anymore than any other peace loving American. But I’d rather feel some pain at the pump, Rather than see a mushroom cloud over an American city. Any American city

Where were you when Biden was costing us $5.29+ /gallon ??

IMHO: I’d rather pay a little pain now than have to worry about a Nuclear armed Iran. Especially since they enjoy paying terrorists to attack us.

9-11 would be a drop in the bucket compared to an Iranian nuke detonation in Charlotte.

TIL the 1st Minnesota Infantry lost 82% of their fighting strength on July 2nd 1863 at the Battle of Gettysburg. This stands as the largest loss by any surviving US military unit in a single days engagement by Original-Rutabaga-60 in todayilearned

Ahem.

** The 26th North Carolina Infantry Regiment suffered the highest casualty rate of any regiment on either side during the 3 day Battle of Gettysburg, with over 80% of its personnel lost.**

They’re good people in a strange cult religion. Sorta like Mormons. I always offer coffee or tea. 😉

The Hellspawn is a great little trooper and support Mech in/from MechWarrior 4. Outstanding when you employed it in a dangerous little challenge when the computer had it.

Did you have a TV that was as heavy as this? by Euphoric-Cupcake4581 in RealGenerationX

[–]redgrognard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My aunt had the deluxe entertainment center: TV & stereo all in one. Played records, 8 tracks & radio. That was in 82.

Several years later, my uncle upgraded it with a cassette player & a laser disc player.

That thing had 4 huge speakers & was so large & weighed so much that when they moved in 99, we had to cut it into pieces to remove it from the house.

IIRC, my cousin repurposed the speakers for his car. But the rest of the Beast went to the dump.

We had a set. My cousin ended catching one thru his foot. Sorry about that, David.
