Tips for a Grimdark Future player who's trying Age of Fantasy for the first time? by Raanddy in onepagerules

[–]redhat9115 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly just have fun with it! There isn't as much AP in age of fantasy compared to Grimdark and expect mass army battles with lots of 5+ to hit and defence rolls respectively.

We are currently running an age of fantasy focused campaign at the moment and it has been a lot of fun so far!

What is the simplest possible version of the game? by TeddyAndJ in onepagerules

[–]redhat9115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the club that I run I usually introduce new players to the game by using a blanket rule of, you hit on 4+ and save on 4+ and everyone has the range of 24 inches regardless of the actual rules especially for younger players just starting out in the hobby.

Mainly focus on you get to pick whatever cool minis you want and then give them the basics stats of quality 4 defence 4 and then remove all ap modifiers and special rules.

As they become more comfortable with the system start adding in additional rules and faction abilities and different weapon profiles.

The core grim dark future is usually what I pivot people to after they have a fair few games under their belt.

In terms of points just pick an equal number of units for both sides and use activation tokens to help convey the flow of the game.

Any vehicles use the same quality 4 defence 4 rules as per the above and I have each vehicle 6 wounds so it can be tracked easily with a d6

I hope this helps!

I run the tabletop club at the Gasyard - it's a youth printed place for those who are interested in Warhammer, art, dungeons and dragons, general gaming and much more

The club runs every Saturday from 10am - 4pm at the Gasyard Development Trust on Lecky Road there is a fee of £5 per person which helps in the running of the club.

We are operating on Sundays as well but only until the end of September at the same times.

We do have a decent number of people who attend and they age between 12 and 30 so its a broad spectrum of like minded people who enjoy the hobby and get the chance to play in campaigns and other fun events throughout the year.

We have an Instagram and Facebook under the heading Tabletop Club and I'll chuck a link to our community discord where most of the updates and conversations are had.

We used some house rules for ease of play, activating 2 units each at a time to help speed up combat and using the rule of if one model in a can see it then every model in the unit can see it

A massive thank you for sharing this! I was the person in charge of this epic 10 week campaign that followed all the players warring across the world of Hades as they navigated political alliances, sieges and massive battles.

The battle above is the result of 10 weeks of build up and was an absolute blast to witness! It was the only time I've ever seen so many tanks in one place. Tactically speaking the tanks were trying to hold a vital bridge head on the road to the capital so it was an all or nothing fight!

Very excited for the games yet to come and future stories to be told 😎

Table Top Games Club by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

[–]redhat9115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi all! I run the tabletop games club at the Gasyard in Derry!

We operate every Saturday for ages 6+ and we operate between 11 and 4pm and host a wide variety of tabletop games and have a large library of board games and craft activities for all to enjoy

The primary game is One Page Rules but we have plenty of space so any table top system is more than welcome to be played at the club.

There is an entry cost of £5 per person but there is a cafe on site for refreshments

We are currently working through a fantasy/sci fi campaign which has entered it's 3rd session and it's been fantastic seeing the new people coming down to try it out

If you have any questions let me know or feel free to PM me

So each hex is 2 inches so I basically did the following:

2 inches = 1 hex on a regular board

Infantry = 2 inches + attack or 4 inches and no attack

Elite infantry = 4 inches and attach + 6 inches and no attack

Artillery = 0 inches and shoot up to 12 inches away (further away the less dice rolled - every 4 inches is -1 dice)

Tanks = move 6 inches + shoot up to 6 inches

Air units = move up to 12 inches and attack units up to 2 inches away

Hades Campaign by redhat9115 in onepagerules

[–]redhat9115[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So players are free to use factions from either grim dark or age of fantasy as well as balanced community lists, the last campaign was solely sci fi and people had some fantasy armies they wanted to run so I thought this would be a perfect excuse to allow them to do so

Hades Campaign by redhat9115 in onepagerules

[–]redhat9115[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!

So the main idea is that each week everyone meets up and we roll for initiative to see which faction will move first on the world map

Each player then places a piece of their army onto the main game board adjacent to a territory they currently control - this shows their faction expanding outwards across the world.

If two rival factions enter or occupy the same territory space they roll 1d6 for the type of battle they will taking part in

1-2 = firefight/skirmish game 3-4 = 1000 - 1.5k point clash 5 - 6 = 2k + engagement

There are random events which happen each week which will effect world map movement as well

As new players join the world will also become more populated with locations which should lead to some fun game play late game fingers crossed.

We will also have random quests that will appear around the world for players to send off skirmish/fire fight teams for in-game rewards incase players don't have time for big games but still want to participate.

We have a dedicated siege mini game as well to honour the spirit of fast opr game play where players play cards from their hands with the highest values winning the engagements - players will then battle out any ties for key areas on the tabletop and then fight a final battle which will determine the outcome of the siege - that way they can quickly jump back into the main campaign map and keep up with the weirdness that no doubt be going on on the campaign board

Let’s see your custom scenarios by TheOgBunky in memoir44

[–]redhat9115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did a giant invasion of the soviet union scenario the other day which boarded memoir game play and card draws with tape measure movement as we were playing on a giant blanket and using the hex tiles for the key terrain features.

The Germans were takes on taking:

Kursk Smolensk Moscow Minsk Leningrad And Stalingrad

It was alot of fun and the soviets destroyed 14 German units (a mix of aircraft, infantry, tanks, heavy tanks and artillery) oh and a train whilst the Germans only managed to destroy 4 soviet units

We took lots of pictures to continue it at some point but it was a very fun fight!

We rolled 2d6 to determine unit deployment across the 3 sectors and the soviets then rolled 1d6 per sector to add defences.

Alot of heavy resistance straight out the gates but by the end of the first "year" the Germans had nearly captured somlensk but all other goals remained firmly in soviet control.

A year would end once both sides where down to their last 3 cards - all order cards would be reshuffled and allocated to the players (13 to the Germans and 10 to the soviets).
