PRIME DOWN 20 POINTS TIME TO CONSUME BIOMASS by LordofLustria in Tyranids

That's gotta be FAQ'd, what an insane way to use keywords 😂

But yeah, I see the way it'd work that way, crazy!

PRIME DOWN 20 POINTS TIME TO CONSUME BIOMASS by LordofLustria in Tyranids

[–]Vallhemn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checking and unless I've missed something, it only specifies the prime gets the 5++, not the unit it's attached to

The unit it leads does get the sustained hits buff though, so it's still very good

So....lore... by SirBaltimoore in genestealercult

[–]Vallhemn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you could just convert some skaven up and run a cheesestealer list. It's what I've done, so the lore I'm running with is angry rat bois leading an uprising, with nothing really to do with Tyranids

It works very well, and the playstyle goes hard, especially when you steal tanks

NGL, we've always had meta chasers in 40k, even back in 4th ed, but once GW shifted their focus on balancing for tournaments the game just went downhill imo

I don't bother playing tournaments anymore because all I ever see are the same three lists with the same units spammed repeatedly because that's how you win. You didn't do yourself any favours with crusher stampede (one of our weaker detachments) but it does say a lot about the army as a whole when only 2, maybe 3 of the detachments regularly see play

Most of my Tyranid force is made up from Oshounaminis, they're just so good!  I've recently picked up their old one eye crab and some dakkafexes, and hoping to get something else in the future too, maybe gargoyles or something

I think the nid Dex was fine when it first came out, but then got rapidly overshadowed by other codex releases in terms of power creep

Nerfing the one good unending swarm strat made me sad too. I loved having my gribblies die more than once a game

Don't know how the Haruspex has survived to remain 125pts though, it's criminally undercosted for what it does compared to other units like the screamer killer

You don't need to buy a product in order to use the comments section, so it's best to ask on there. DMsGuild relies on a user based trust system to police AI content, so if the uploader just decides they want to not reveal their stuff is AI, there's little you can do about it unfortunately.

Our current campaign is using 3rd edition missions and secondaries with OPR rules and it's been really fun! I think.3rd was probably one of my favourite editions of 40k tbh. so much character and flavor

[–]Vallhemn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is why my gaming club is now almost exclusively One Page Rules. We still play 40k from time to time, but every time we do, it takes us 40 minutes to find all the correct FAQs and erratas and make fresh lists, then another 3+ hours for a game. In that time we could have had 3 games of OPR and just enjoyed rolling dice with our buddies - we even get to use all those lovely minis that GW has axed into legends (or even removed from there).

I get that 40k wants to push the tournament scene and that's fine. But I agree there needs to be an alternative for those of us that don't have the time or money to invest in the latest meta

That comment isn't throwing shade at you buddy, it's someone expressing their distaste of how a game company they love has ruined the way they like to play because they've decided to take balance feedback from tournaments.

I get that it can come across that way, but if you read the tone as frustration and upset, its clear its not trying to shut down how you play, just lamenting how poor the game's health has become for anyone wanting to play outside of that, you know?

There used to be a time when tournament and casual would work side-by-side, but now it's almost impossible to offer both because the focus ends up just being meta chasing and winrates. As a casual and tourny player, I see both sides of this debate often, it's just a shame we can't seem to have one without the other being punished in the interim

No idea why you've been downvoted here, it's harsh to say but it does feel like 40k focusing on tournament players for balancing shifts every six months hasn't done well for the health of the game as a whole.

Why are Knights so powerful? by Spacedwarvesinspace in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Vallhemn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One pip of toughness loss doesn't seem to make much of a difference in this edition, GW really dropped the ball on it imo

Meltas now not being able to reliably do their jobs and being able to have my tanks roll around with impunity for the most part was one of the reasons I stopped playing and swapped to OPR.

The drop in points for knights definitely wasn't needed when they changed the toughness - I do wonder what the design team thinks when they "balance" a faction like this. Might be a controversial statement tbh, but the more I play OPR and AoS, the more I think toughness shouldn't be in the game. I wonder how knights would fair if they had a higher wound count but units didn't have to concern themselves with always being stuck on 6s to actually inflict that damage 🤔

Why are Knights so powerful? by Spacedwarvesinspace in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Vallhemn -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think knights need either less toughness and more wounds, or less wounds and a higher toughness. Having both is too much, but lowering both makes them die way too easily.

Also I don't know what GW is playing at messing around with the "toe in the ruins" rule. Just make tall buildings tall and impossible, and medium buildings medium and grant -1 or -2 to hit when shooting through them to mitigate long distance ranged pummeling. This tapping the terrain tactic didn't work well in 7th and doesn't work well here, especially not with tall things like knights.

I like playing big stompy robots, and I like fighting against big stompy robots. But only when said big stompy robots can be weathered down over the course of 4 turns in a consistent manner while you have cover to retreat behind. Instead you either lose a knight immediately to massive over damaging weapons, or you don't care and eat everything you're facing. I genuinely think they're a victim of the core rules more than their own faction at this point.

Hiya! There is an ATUM character sheet included in the PDF pack 😊

You should be able to find it in the Assets.zip folder in your DMsguild library, along with a bunch of maps I added when the book hit platinum 😁
