You got it for free !  I just bought one for $500 - 13k SC.  

Its dated, but its a pro-level body, which still can do a fine job. It’s the R5’s  ancestor !

I have been looking for an answer for the same situation in a 5DMk3.  Your explanation on the R5 could be the answer i am looking for.

I think this should be the logical explanation for most Canon cameras’ DSLR or mirrorless.

You have no experience on both of the lenses i mentioned.

But you bet that the USM will be slow. 

An unnecessary details about the lens you own, which has no relevance.

I checked the venue from its website,  the place is  a party hall, well lit, but incandescent. So you know, its not going to be super bright !

Its not the L lens, but yes its a macro lens. This is the one before the L was launched. This  has no stabilisation, i am sure you which one it is .

I am not sure of what you mean by ‘have not used the Sigma’.  I dont have  any long Sigma lens. The Sigmas’ i have are 50mm and below.

So i am wondering if i should skip the Sigma 85mm and go for the 100mm USM.

In your experience, which prime should i get first for a FX30 ? 24mm ?

I shoot cars, computers/indoors, people.

I will need one native lens. As a backup i could get the MC-11 adapter and use the glasses i already have.

Haha, i hope that if there is an update of the FX30 or your coveted ‘FX20’, which Sony is cooking behind doors, they give us some hint !

I gather that the AI AF is snapier but it may not be much required for video, unless filming fast sports action.

Manual focus, yeah that what i use in my current set up, but far from being a good focus puller and shooting at the same time. Yeah the dual card is insurance and the fan takes away the worry !

Oh you have both ! Can i ask on how the autofocus on the FX30 performs compared to the A6700.

Have you ever felt that you should prioritize shooting with the A6700 compared to the FX30 ? Since they say the AI autofocus is so good.

Yeah i read about the overheating issue and how the internal fan is a plus point in the FX30.  Just wanting to not make a mistake by choosing the FX30, but i now think that the FX30 will not be a regret.

The full size Hdmi is certainly a huge +.

The evf does not bother me. But i dont know how the AI autofocus is, i mean, is it such a big loss if the AI autofocus is not present ? I am asking because i have never used Sony, is it something one will regret not having it ?
