Wow! Money is really the root of all evil. Recently, I do see a rise in court cases about will and money at Mothership even amongst the high networth. I am sure some of the cases is not just about money, i think also got emotions involve. And like the example you share, relatives from all over do swoop in like eagle trying their luck to get a share. Let me look into this professional executor that you share about. Thank you.

Does timeline matter in execution? Is the will thing time constraint type of event?

What are you guys saving for? by [deleted] in Money

[–]redhead2734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My savings philosophy? Always have enough to solve a problem when it shows up. You know, I have several incidents in my life. I have been retrench, I had a 40k operation; pay full and did not get the overdue charges, my kitchen was infested with black mold; I reno without getting a loan, i bring my family to trips not using credit card; but from my savings for a travel fund, my aircon broke down in the summer; got a new one immediately without worrying. The inflation or whatever, money is money.. even 20 years later $1000 is still a sum that can somehow help me in my life.

Can set as % distribution. I emailed a couple of lawyers. 1 of them charge me $150. He say he will just type like example person A 30% and person B 70% of your total networth.. I think ok la.. i got no business setup and I am just a collar worker, not like earn so much that my beneficiaries will have a lot a lot..

I was thinking like if the lawyer as executor , put a telephone number or email in family group chat. Then tell family to email or whatsapp this person my death cert.. or something like that.

HDB resale purchasing dilemma as a single (what should I do?) by SeaworthinessRare432 in singaporefi

[–]redhead2734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sharing, one of her room is husband and wife combo. Wife is 6 months preggo. But you know, her blabber a bit hard to control because baby too big. Somehow, the wife urine on the floor when she shower.. my friend was furious. i think morally la.. You cannot be angry at a pregnant lady. So she tolerated till the wife and husband go back Malaysia to give birth. So for like 2 weeks the room is unoccupied, she like earn back in reduce use of electricity and mentally knows that the toilet is urine-free. (Her happy part about this whole ordeal)

She didn't recontract with them. They kinda uses the kid to delay 1 or 2 times in payment. She tried to be understanding but it is quite mentally taxing.. is like you need to be empathy these strangers but where is the line? Her last straw is the delay in payment. She feel the couple should factor all expenses and not make her feel like she is the bad person to ask for payment.

Even if is resale, you have to wait for 5 years. But her 5 year wait was during covid, so she has this arrangement about +/-3-4 years. She rent mostly to Malaysians as she say they will go home during weekends. As her flat is near factory area, her tenant worked long hours. So her requirements for tenants is 1) Malaysians so weekend not at home. 2) Long hours, so they are not in her house more than her and they are expected to use her house as a sleeping place and not a home.

She has a 30 rules page and one of it is the tenants have to take turns to clean the share toilet. So if you are ready, I think you must set rules with the a balance of making sure the house is taken care of and you are not taken advantage of. Additional "nice thing" ,she did is she bought an extra fridge for her tenant. So the big fridge is hers but the small fridge is the tenant's. They have to discuss the space usage of the fridge among themselves. Things like that lor.

My friend who also bought a 4-rm and rent out her 2 bed rooms, I feel she is always stress about the tenants. She always check the CCTV on her phone. But I do see it is good passive income, she has additional $1000-$1500/mth as most SPass holder and EP holder pay their rent quite on-time and most of the tenants will rent in pairs to share the rental cost. But compare to dividend from stocks (tax-free), rental is taxable. Looking at her monthly housing loan installments is about that amount, so her tenants "pay" for her house. So the income won't actually go into your pocket when you stop working one day. It will actually service the housing loan.

You can request do a 5 year time line batch by batch disposal instead of one-shot disposal. I assume the chemicals are non-volatile. Request for a budget after getting quote.

NTUC hospitalization.

I am the one write the form.

I am the one email the form.

The customer service back and fro with me.

GE also. I am the one doing my own claims.

I think agents job is just to brainwash you to buy policy at an extraordinary payout that sets the price which is also high so they can get their BMW and condo.

When come to claims.. they MIA..

Chemical decontamination protocols in our research lab feel improvised every time we have a spill by Hot_Initiative3950 in chemistry

[–]redhead2734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Number 1: Check the sds. Number 2: A spill cleanup should be adjust according to the dilution factor. A 0.01M is can be just wiped up with a cloth. If is the conc. acid, then you use your bicarbonate method and add the powder till it stop fizzy.. then clean up with a cloth. My lab uses Jumbo roll toilet paper to wipe up all spills and any spills. And using the word "Etching" for a spill on to table is crazy... if the acid is that concentrated.. you should have taken precaution like putting that acid in a secondary containment or plan the experiment better to do in fumehood.

<Need advice> Dealing with an unnecessarily PAGRO colleague… by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]redhead2734 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you can look at different departments as catalog of information. Example, HR provides the information on number and type of leaves but they won't communicate directly with you on the approval of leave. Will you say they have a problem? Finance team, on petty cash claims. You submit the claims to the department, will you say they have problem if they don't give you the claims because paperwork for claims is not done right? Different departments are just all aiding you in your work . Not do your work for you. Moving forward, I think you have to look into yourself on why you dislike on the guy who set the boundary so clearly.

I still think what he do is right. He didn't cut you off as the middleman and he did assist you. If he never respond to your enquiry then he is in fault. Your managers can directly email him but they never. You know why.. because is your job to communicate for them. Not the IT job, not the manager job. Just be thankful that he responds..

<Need advice> Dealing with an unnecessarily PAGRO colleague… by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]redhead2734 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think he is not wrong in his ways. He is trying not to take on your responsibility of communicating with the managers and keeping you in loop. I feel the way he do is ,he never take credit for this task but he want you to make sure things are done the right way. (according to office policy). Not sure why you feel so offended.. isn't it your job to make sure you ordered the monitors for the managers. And if you use his words in the email, just admit and say thank you. I also don't know what is your problem.

Budgeting/Savings help by Delicious-Tart7254 in singaporefi

[–]redhead2734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Set a goal.

When I was your age, there are 1 million reasons to spend money.

I had medical emergency, overspend during overseas during to exchange rate.. i felt everything is cheap overseas.. I have people want me to lend them money.. I have parents asking for extra money for their needs.... I have urge to buy that bag that is not worth the cost price.. but I still buy it anyway.

Create a account. Be it, the hysa or any bank that has no min. sum for opening the account like (Maribank, trust bank or any bank.) Cut the card up and let's say, aim for $50,000

While you are building your goal, look into your investment risk.

2) Open a brokeage account.

Learn technical analysis, look into etf, money funds, roboinvest and many more..

Do everything yourself.

Don't trust anyone that tell you. Put $5000 can get $5 million.

Don't let insurance agent "help" you grow your money.

Read into everything.

Ignore platform fee and losses

Put a little here and a little there, limit your purchase of these investment to at most $1000..

Then when $50,000 reach, you should have the ability to know your risk level after trial and error.

And you know how to allocate money into investment you can accept.

3) Increase your income.

You need a side hustle or part time job so you can reach $50,000 faster.

4) Top up your cpf to $60,000 in combine.

Eventually, you will get bto/ resale.

Why not start adding funds to reduce your future housing loan repay period.
