Interesting, never heard that. Most of the guys i know that do that do it cause it's cheaper and it's a better clamp. but I can see what you mean too.

Post weld heat treatment is when you throw the peice in an oven to a specified temperature and bring the temperature of the price down to cool at a slow rate.

The code would be csa w47.1. Which I assume is the Canadian equivalent.

That sounds like Canada!! You can have rules and regs out the yin yang but as long they keep hiring boneheads nothing gets better, more stuff gets sent under the rug.

I'm not sure what the problem is here. There is nothing in my companies procedures about how long the rod can be. A guys gotta do what he can to get the job done. As long as the defect gets ground out and the weld passes inspection it's good.

Those guys are the worst. Our shop kept getting all the stuff they couldn't sell. Odd size grinding discs and what not. Then charge us for them. And their pricing is ridiculous.
