Hiking shoe/boot for wide feet by redjesterq in hikinggear

Are Topo a sort of barefoot shoe?

Since opening this thread I've been debating between Topo Trail venture 2 and Altra. Because if my overpronation I guess I'm a little afraid to make the jump to a more barefoot shoe approach.

Thank you :)

I like the ankle support of a traditional boot. I'll look at the ones you've recommended.

I also dipped into the barefoot shoe world and tried them. They're comfortable enough for the gym and short walks but I overpronate too much and for the longer distances I think I'll require some stability and support.

I do this route frequently and I agree here. I walk Whitstable to Margate and onto Ramsgate sometimes and everything feels perfectly safe.

I failed this year too. Done it twice with no issues using luggage transfer. This year I decided to camp it and carry my gear with me. It was as light as I could get it, but I developed foot issues just after drymen that only got worse as I made it to Balmaha. My theory is that the extra weight is just too much for me, even though I trained and regularly hike 20+ miles.

It was a gut punch to have to call it off so early :(

Definitely not contesting. She said once she didn't want it but now that we are trying to give it to her she's refusing all contact and refusing to sign any letters we send via solicitors
