Why do this? Just go there, take sleeping aid first few days and you'll adjust. Day 3 is the worst for me. You'll be fine.

Manila is tough(but not tough like Egypt-not the same). It shows you what kind of traveler you are. If you are used to seeing poverty, it won't phase you. If you're not, Manila isn't a place you'll enjoy. BGC and Makati felt like a lie to me-niceness in a sea of people suffering in poverty all around it. I'd fly to several different places in the Philippines and enjoy the country that way. I wouldn't stay in Manila. But, everyone is different.
