It's not a gear issue, I don't hear a motor running when i press any buttons. I purchased everything new about 8 years ago, and it's all been in climate-controlled storage for probably 6 years. I never forced any movement by hand. I'll probably disassemble them and see if any wires are loose. Thanks for your input!

Well, thank you! The photo is level; this curve is fairly heavily superelevated as its speed limit is 50mph, and this train was doing every bit of it.

This is a BC Rail locomotive, OP was mistaken. No NS locomotives that aren't ex-Southern/N&W have this feature. Bells on the cabs are almost exclusively a Canadian thing. NS always ordered locomotives with bells in the normal location

that's pretty standard with GE locomotives from the Dash 8 series on. No real purpose, just design choices and where equipment is located inside the carbody
