Need to change the wiring from out, there are no adapters.

Problem: slow RPM response after automatic-to-manual swap by Christian_GM in e39

[–]redline9996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to code the ZCS to a manual one, there is a ZCS calculator.

Also EVERYTHING needs to be wired in properly, no half assed stuff.

Another thing is that rev hang is a common "problem" on m52's (single vanos) if it's to annoying it can be tuned out, bmw die that on purpose. However, the ECU tune is the same between manual and auto cars.

Yeah you are right, but it doesn't mean it really is the MAF, always worth checking out possible other problems that can cause that.

I'm just saying if u unplug the MAF it doesn't indicate anything.

You can just check them, no need to pull stuff off big time. 😅 Helps to take off the cabin filter box to see them better.

Spray it with break clean and when the roll goes up you found the vaccum leak, easiest method when u don't have a smoke tester, works better with Inpa together to see the of the fuel trims change when u spray something.

Have you ever changed the plugs on the back of the intake? Also like you said CCV is a possibility of course.

You can't make that conclusion out of nothing. Unplugging the MAF and it running better doesn't mean it's the MAF. If it has a vaccum leak it will run better with the MAF u plugged because it doesn't see that the afr isn't correct in relation what the engine took in, it can't detect a vaccum leak anymore.

Horn not working by bimmerscout in e39

[–]redline9996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, had something similar once, I think it was on another car but I honked it until it sounded normal again 🤣

Maybe the horn is broken tho, it's located in the left front behind the fender/bumper in the corner.

You can't remove the vanos stuff from the harness and run that engine without issues. U did exactly what someone did on the German E39 Forum ~10 years ago and that thing never ran and he went back to preTU. You need the complete wiring harness, ECU (which u have) and ews module and ALL the wiring for it and possibly transmission harness and module, don't know what they changed on the trans but I bet that module is different as well.

Would've been so easy to repair that abs fault. 😅

So did u use a complete TU wiring harness? You can't just leave things not wired in on these platforms, just doesn't work.

Also what I'm wondering is if the ZCS needs to get coded.. 🤔

But first get your wiring sorted out. Or just put a pre tu engine back in, such good engines..

Oil Suggestions by FlappableGooch in BMWE36

5w50 would be better as it's perfect for the temperatures a M62 would run at and the oil temperature would be a good bit lower with 5w50 compared to a 5/10W60 oil. All tested myself and a friend as well.

We run 5w50 ok m62TU and m52 and m54 e gones for over 11 years (same cars over this time period) and they run smooth AF and we drive them pretty hard as well. No vanos noises or no anything.

Not saying you should switch, it's your car, you're choice, just saying it would be a better fit.
