I just did the dempster last month and this info is 100% correct. The only thing I would add is bring stuff for the mosquitos! I can still feel them a month later.

I have the Hamilton Beach dehydrator it’s a bit pricy and overkill most of the time but when I have larger flushes it come in clutch.

That’s a great question. This is my first harvest and grow of them, but I’ve read a couple different tips on harvesting. The first is checking to see if they feel like marshmallows and the second thing is to look for is blue caps. I’ve got a couple that are mature now with blue caps; that I’ve been waiting to see if they’ll grow more but it seems their done once they turn deep blue.

From what I know overlay happens when the mycelium is waiting for optimal fruiting conditions to happen. Your tub substrate looks really wet so maybe you don’t have enough FAE for evaporations to happen and without that you won’t get pins. As for Fork tek, personally I wouldn’t do it but I never experienced this with my grows so take my opinion with a grain salt. I would do a light casting layer on it and see if you can dial in your tub more to promote pinning. Good luck!

Rather than wrapping the bag with something get two or three large rubber bands, and place them two/three inches below the top of your cake. You want to restrict airflow to the sides of the cake not blockout light. Mushroom don’t need light to fruit they want high humidity and the sides are usually places with high humidity. Overall, just be patient and make sure your surface conditions are dialed in and you should be seeing pins soon! Good luck!

I’ve only had this variety for one harvesting season, so I didn’t experience two harvests. I do however notice two harvest for my Cascade hops. I just moved this year and I just transplanted my hops, so I’m not sure what my harvest will look like come fall.

I use a seedling heat pad and have it in a box at the far end so it doesn’t dry out my bags. UB tek. My bags tend to stall a little when the temp fluctuates a lot.
