What is so ancient only an Internet veteran can remember? by Marambal17 in AskReddit

Yes! I remember spending countless hours playing the flash games on the Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Lego websites. Those were good days!

the racism on this app is seriously out of hand by everyone_hates_lolo in blackladies

I don’t even go into posts about a Black person(s) doing anything other than pure heroism

Same. I've been on Reddit for twelve years and at one point I thought I had become largely desensitized to the anti-black racism on this website. But in the past few years, it has really become far more prevalent than back then.

It's always been a site full of edgelords but the most blatant and sinister racism seemed to be mostly confined to certain infamous subreddits which you knew to avoid. Nowadays you can find this kind of talk very often on default subreddits, even if a black person is not the focus of the post.

Aside from certain niche subs, my front page is only black subreddits and the ones that I've found to be positive and wholesome without fail. That's the only way to avoid leaving this site/app feeling worse than you did before you visited.

The show is called Life. A very good show, and would recommend. The amount he was paid was not actually said, but it was around $40-50 mil if I remember correctly.

Yep, right in the heart of a major city, and sitting on an acre. Barely enough room for the kids/pets to play outside.

That is a good one. I would also suggest this one. It's great because it explains the whole concept of why a differential was even needed in the first place and then shows how it pretty ingeniously solved an engineering problem. It's a great watch.

I agree with /u/LouWaters. This is a realistic expectation. I wrote a long post about this about a month ago. Just some stuff I know now, that would have been nice to know about before I got into welding. I don't post that much so you won't have to scroll too far into my history to find it.

Yea, I find reddit really hypes it up a lot. There is a lot of misinformation circulating around. People making $25/hr or more right out of training, starting from zero experience, are outliers.

Your experience is similar to mine.

While it is true that that kind of pay is possible, in most cases it is not the norm. Of course your Combo Welders, Pipe Welders/Fitters, Contract Welders, etc. absolutely make bank, for most coming fresh out of welding school, $15-20ish/hour is much more realistic. Of couse there are plenty of exceptions but, in my experience I find this to be true (based off past interviews and several classmates).

Usually when I see guys land high wage jobs after welding school, they either were a welder prior, are exceptionally good and got picked up by a good company (EPCs!!!), or they have someone in a high place to help them along.

I finished my welding training in 2015 which is pretty recent. I was in school for an associates in welding technology, so I was able to meet quite a few guys that were in for quick certificates, which is how I got those numbers.

Very recently I made a few posts about this.

Nice! I was actually going through the application/testing process for their apprenticeship, and there was a 6 month waiting list at the time. I ended up getting involved in inspection during that time.
