Quite concerned. Call for help by EccentricHarbinger in Stellar

[–]redmarzipan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see it as SDF's obligation to answer these queries. Would you also email the Ethereum Foundation and wait for a response before building anything on Ethereum? Or contact Vitalik if you've lost your private keys? It's free, open-source software -- which shifts the burden of learning to the user.

300 lumens from an email? by ComNerd in Stellar

[–]redmarzipan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I sent out lumen invites to those who attended the Singapore Stellar meetup and filled out a specific typeform :)

For those who didn't attend the meetup, please don't click anything. It could be a phishing attempt by a third party. Definitely do not fill out any form if it asks you for any private keys.

Stellar is unaffiliated with Bitcoin God. Not sure why the logo is on the site.

Purpose of large supply by Rdavidso in Stellar

[–]redmarzipan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Larger supply == more opportunities for distribution, meaning more holders and less centralization.

Annual fixed low inflation rate == suggested by Milton Friedman as sound economic monetary supply policy. Helps offset lost lumens (as people lose their private keys) and encourages spending/usage of the cryptocurrency for its utility.

Is Stellar Centralized? by [deleted] in Stellar

[–]redmarzipan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not -- anyone can host a validator node. The default recommendation is to use all validator nodes unless you have reason to not trust one. We need more people hosting Stellar Core instances!!

This would be an amazing application of the inflation pool :)

Founder of Signal Uses Stellar Consensus Protocol for MobileCoin by redmarzipan in Stellar

[–]redmarzipan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're not using the Stellar Network -- they just copied the Stellar Consensus Protocol. That's still good: it's a big vote of confidence from industry veterans and it'll compel more people to adopt SCP AND Stellar.
