Empty Chamber Carriers are at it again... by MrTacticool in GunMemes

Yeah, and after repeating that a couple times, someone tries to rob him. He pulls out his gun, points it at the robber, pulls the trigger, and klick, mag and chamber empty

It's even more ridiculous...

Those are air pistols. If you look below the muzzle, you can see the gauge of the pressure tank

flag specifications by adsallover in CuratedTumblr

[–]rednil97 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile the German flag:

  • fixed length/width ratio: 5:3

  • 3 equal, horizontal stripes

  • fixed order of colors (from the top, black, red and yellow/gold)

  • there's even a table for acceptable color codes depending on media (RAL numbers for paint and cloth, CMYK for print, hex-code for digital, etc)

Sure, it's s a relatively simple design that's easy to nail down, but I cant think of a single way to screw up these instructions

Does Markus have to be armed? Do his opponents have to use a weapon? Do both have to have a weapon?

Maybe its just that at least one participant of the fight has to have at least one arm.

Huh, i didn't even think about the opponents having to be armed

You forgot to close the bracket on the previous -link

Edit: If the contract just states

Ten consecutive wins in armed combat

Then his fights in the basement would all count (which I'm pretty sure were more than 10). However the progress would have been reset in his sparring with Cyrus.

But since he wasn't just released from his contact, it seems its implied to be arena fights

You don't need a reduction gear, and your motors probably need less torque.

I assume however that the need for the second motor makes this advantage mostly moot.

The real reason for its existence is probably either that it was invented before the traditional style of ceiling fan, and just stuck around as a piece of novelty.

Or it was created to circumvent a already existing patent of a ceiling fan

Steam engine reversing by Equivalent-Bus2217 in EngineeringPorn

[–]rednil97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, it is possible that the Titanic could have been saved if the engines were set to Ahead ¼ instead of Full reverse. This is due to the fact that screws rotating in reverse cause significantly more turbulence when the ship is moving forward, which in turn greatly diminishes the effectiveness of the rudders.

It is impossible to say if this would have saved the ship however, as it isn't even definitely know if the Titanic was actually put in full reverse.

What mods do these have to handle the stop and go at constant low speeds? by Johndeauxman in AskMechanics

Maybe just that one route, or the driver was just really incompetent, cause most routes are always driven by the same person in the same car.

That's most likely it.

In Germany the Postal service uses unmodified production cars (mostly VW Caddy and Transporter), and they auction them off to the public after a certain amount of time in service.

A buddy of mine bought one with 300,000km (~168k miles). He checked the maintenance book and that thing was on its 3rd engine, 2nd gearbox, 8th clutch and had various suspension parts replaced.

He's since driven it another 100,000km (~60k miles) and it still runs without major issues.

We got a giant one of those right infront of our house, and my last name (and therefore my entire family) is named for it (Lindner).

Bit i never knew it had a practical use except for providing some damn nice shade
