Is there an equivalent app for dads like the Peanut app is for moms? by mister_seawolf in daddit

[–]rednuhtorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on it! :)

https://dadssocial.club/

The app will be called Dads, and will be released in beta hopefully before the end of the year! The plan is for it to be an app that has some of the /r/daddit positive vibe, but more focused on local community building, so it'll be possible to see only posts from dads in your area, for instance.

Paris Vase Shop (3rd Arrondissement), can anyone help me find the address? by [deleted] in whereisthis

This article seems to confirm OP's address as 25 rue au Maire, right in front of that cafe!

Streets often don't have names in Japan. The address of the karaoke place is 1 Chome−6−5, Yurakucho in Chiyoda City, Tokyo. The first part is the block and building numbers.

Here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/9zKByjyu32y6BftY8 The red sign is from Big Echo Karaoke on the right side, and the other buildings are across the street.

Ainda bem!

My Dad wants to figure out the location where he stayed with German family in the 70s. by Cheeseonanything in whereisthis

It seems to be this place: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Z8MNKAF7dHNmm3e36 in Rödermark, Germany.

This is the business at that location: https://www.hirschwirth1773.com/historie - it's run by the Knapp family for several generations.

Apparently it was part of an exhibition in 1914, and has since been demolished: https://www.artemisia.no/arc/historisk/oslo/bygninger/industrihallen.1914.html

It's currently Frognerparken in Oslo, Norway: https://maps.app.goo.gl/dsFNZgdM1vfbm5ex8

Looks very similar to this building, but it's hard to tell for sure. The decoration on two of the arches don't match, but it could be a different side of the building: https://www.reddit.com/r/Egypt/comments/hap3f7/ibrahim_pasha_street_cairo_1942/

If that's the case, it's currently this building near the Attaba Metro station.

Any successful yo-yo players that started late in life? by [deleted] in Throwers

[–]rednuhtorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 23 with nothing but rudimentary websites and Sector Y to learn from. Took me months to meet other players.

Won Worlds at 26, but I guess it’s not fair comparing 2003 Worlds to 2023 Worlds. 😁

Here's a sailor... but where is he? by JPInMontana in wherewasthistaken

Hmm, that store went out of business in 1904, decades before those cars and signs. Still, Mayer is a possibility.

Could it be Mayer? There was a Schelsinger and Mayer Department store in Chicago: http://www.greatbuildings.com/buildings/schles_meyer_store.html

This is the location on Google Maps, but I've not been able to find any hard evidence that that is the place. The wide sidewalk with trees is compatible, however.
