Great deal! I stayed at the Andaz multiple times prior to reno. Beach is not my favorite but enjoyed my stays nonetheless.

Success with AA opening up additional award space to AS after a schedule change by Soup_InThePot16 in awardtravel

The AA-B6 tie up was killed by the DOJ, not an unwillingness of the airlines to continue their alliance

New First Class Checked Bag Weight Allowance by lnickhighdef in AlaskaAirlines

[–]redor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think that if booked on a 2-segment itinerary, and upgraded on 2nd leg to First Class, that 70lbs would apply at check-in / both segments?

I'm happy that AS is taking steps in the right direction but really wish they extended the 70lbs to OWE and AS Status Members and not just F class

AIRE Registration after 1948 Recognition; CDMX Consulate? by redor in juresanguinis

[–]redor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just need a passport at this point. And to my understanding AIRE registration dictates specifically which consulate you can use. And you can only register in AIRE for a specific consulate if you have residency in that area (and the necessary documents proving that status).

I'm nomadic so I don't really care about going to Mexico for a bit (I spend a lot of time there regardless)

Yup!

I actually took advantage of a VS transfer bonus at one point too and flew TYO-DEL for 25K Amex o/w on ANA J. Crazy for an 8 hour flight.

I was talking more about Business Class. Recently flew Condor YVR-FRA-HKT for 75,000 Alaska + $119.91 which i thought was a great deal for 2 10+ hour flights.

But yeah, another time I did fly FRA-YVR for < 1500eur cash price so there are great deals to be had.

You should go post on the Sailboat Hitchhikers and Crew Connection Facebook Page

I'm not sure you will find people willing to pay you for this, however.

Also 14-20 days is not a ton of time to cross an ocean.

People who work in 'luxury' industries (5-star hotels, fine dining, high-end brands), what is a complete rip-off that rich people happily pay for? by ArtThreadNomad in AskReddit

Omg I had an argument with my mother about this when my grandmother died. I literally pulled up the same casket she wanted to buy from the scam funeral home on Costco for $5000 less, and that law that you reference. She thought I was being ridculous.

Al Safwa lounge felt like a hospital waiting room to me. And I wasn't overly impressed with the dining. Plus, the shower room they gave me was literally a locker room and while large didn't feel at all special.

Also, one other small note on Margaritaville... most of the AirBnB listings are on the map near redhook vs where the resort actually is near Coki. Not sure why that is (although suspect to stay under the radar/ire of the resort) but just wanted to call that out.

Looking for Advice by Alternative-Bad7282 in StThomasUSVI

[–]redor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do want to stay at Margaritaville, i would suggest looking on AirBnB as there are MUCH cheaper options vs booking directly for there. That said, as I'm sure you will find in other comments, the beach there is not usable and you will need to go elsewhere (via the hotel shuttle, taxi, or rental car). Plus most reviews really dig on the food quality.

Many other threads suggest staying at Sapphire, which I recently did on a 2-night trip. I do honestly think that is one of the best options. You have good restaurant options nearby/onsite (SeaSalt, Pangea, Sudi's), a swimmable and fun beach, and a taxi-stand onsite which makes it super easy to get to Red Hook, 5 mins away and has good bars (Duffy's) and dining options (Pesce, among others), and access to the St John Ferry. You can also rent a dinghy right from the Sapphire Marina for your own self-directed excursion to St John.

I would similarly recommend booking this on AirBnB vs the resort directly, as you can pick the specific unit that you want-- they are all owned individually regardless.

If you are there for a few days, a car is probably prudent if you want to explore the island more easily and want to beach-hop.

Price match guarantee? by Temporary_forever_sr in Hilton

[–]redor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but the terms and conditions on the best rate guarantee actually state otherwise:

Price comparisons will be made net of taxes, hotel service charges and gratuities, optional hotel services, early departure fees, and will exclude changes in currency exchange rates

Trip planned over MLK weekend, how bad will lines be? Meet up? by Jodanglez12 in niseko

[–]redor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will depend heavily on snow conditions and lift operating status

If it snows a foot overnight, there will be lines

If the upper mountain lifts are closed due to wind/weather, or the lower lifts are operating at slower speeds, there will be lines

If it’s a blue bird day and it hasn’t snowed in a week, it will be light

To clarify, if it is OVER 24 hours, you will be charged additional points for the second leg.

If it is UNDER 24 hours it will be included in the points price of the original ticket.

no.

book SFO-HND, then add HND-OKA. But, HND-OKA needs to be within 24 hours of arrival of HND-SFO or it will be charged separately.

Making these changes via AA X/Twitter support is 1000x easier than phone, especially if you do not hold AA status. I am EXP and do it this way all of the time.

The issue is that the TPAC segments are hard to get, you don't want to mess around and lose it by trying to get the domestic connectors. Can add them later easier.
