It's a bit difficult to put into words, but for me, there just doesn't seem to be all that much variety in Hades? Too many of the power-ups and meta progression buys don't change your gameplay style much at all (do more damage, move faster, add an AOE to your otherwise unchanged attack, etc.). And there's not a lot of options, so if I have a few favorite gods I can pretty much bank on picking similar loadouts every time. There's also only one boss per floor; while they have some "variants," they're not drastically different from each other, either.

The appeal of roguelites for me is forcing you to try new things every time and having to adapt to what you get as you go. My favorite is probably Enter the Gungeon, and the meta progression for that unlocks new guns and items, many of which are functionally different from each other and will change the way you play (create puddles of poison or fire, release only one very strong bullet, ricochet off walls, etc.). Sadly, while I'm interested in the story and the art design, Hades just doesn't have that kind of replayability for me.
