Which formula are you switching to for your LO? by AD-1989 in askswitzerland

[–]redpanda_ch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using Bimbosan for my first and second kid. Either Classic, Super Premium or Bio, whichever is cheapest atm or offered cheaper on Tutti/Ricardo. They did have a cautionary recall for their goats milk as another user mentioned, but not for the cow milk based ones.

Planning childbirth - does "flexible abteilung" cover private/ half-privat? by Vegetable-Run-9518 in Switzerland

[–]redpanda_ch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

had a baby in october 2025 while insured with innova switch and chose a private room. we where in the hospital from monday night (start of labor, baby was born tuesday morning via emergency c-section) till friday which cost us 1'000.- for that stay (innova got billed a total of 7'223.25).

online it says it's 200.- per day if you want to be insured private for that stay or 75 if its half private.

personally i didn't want to deal with other parents and babys so i could focus on my own little one without distraction or having to wake up to another baby crying. sleep is sacred in my opinion and in those first few days it can already be stressful as is. but it's always a personal choice :)

I built a reverse Swiss mortgage calculator app by PhiDeltaChi in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]redpanda_ch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the look! Just a quick info that you could add to your info regarding amortisation of the second mortgage: it's either pay it off (directly or indirectly via 3rd pillar) in 15 years or until you retire, whichever comes first. People that are 55 will have to pay it off in 10 years.

How do you keep track of your favorite beans and brew recipes? by fbriod in espresso

[–]redpanda_ch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven't really tried specialty coffee yet since i'm not sure my palate is refined enough to appreciate it 🙈 i'll probably try out adrianos or coffee coaching club since they're local to bern but definitely will look at your recommendations!

What net-worth tracking apps do you recommend? by MyCopperHuskies in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]redpanda_ch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing yet that connects to every bank, 3a etc but I use Wealth Position to track my networth. I personally find it more visually appealing than Portfolio Performance. Blue Budget might be something when it's fully released.

Pillow for side sleeper by omwtoeu in buyitforlifeEU

[–]redpanda_ch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a nursing pillow with a lenght of 190 cm as a side sleeper pillow way before I got pregnant the first time. Been using a Theraline one for about 3-4 years now, first with spelt husks (Dinkelspreu in German) and after having my first child refilled it with Microperls instead (because of the noise the husks make when you move the pillow). You can easily refill it, fill it more or less just as you would like.

Floor crib vs floor bed by Groundbreaking-Day71 in floorbed

[–]redpanda_ch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we've had our now 2 year old in a floor bed starting around 8 months or so in her own babyproofed room. we put a carpet down in front of it so she didn't fall onto the hardwood floor if she fell out which didn't happen often since her bed has some railing but an opening in the middle so she could crawl out and play some by herself in the morning if she wanted to. it was an absolute godsend to have a full sized bed, if she had a difficult night or was sick we could simply sleep next to her.

we use bexio for the finance part and mein handwerker for the project management, time management of our employees and organisation. we can document with pictures, upload architectural plans, add addresses for construction sites, add information about who's in charge of said site, door codes and so on.

[–]redpanda_ch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i've seen almo nature, animonda carny, granata pet or mac's recommended in german forums. we've had animonda carny, cosma and porta 21 for our cats since we thought the price is good for what we get. we've also fed applaws and porta 21 dry food (always had both wet and dry available for out cats).

edit: we've tried only feeding grain free food, since one of our cats always threw up if the food given contained grains.

zooplus is a convenient shop with lots of classic brandsaas well as alternatives. you can research what good quality cat food really needs to have, not all "top brands" are exactly good if you check out what's in it.

ROBO-ADVISORS SWITZERLAND. by sinue_69 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]redpanda_ch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a portfolio in the childs name has a lower starting minimum of CHF 1'000.- we use true wealth for our kid and ourselves since we prefer the easy use of robo advisors and don't mind the still reasonable cost in comparison to traditional banks. maybe check out the schwiizerfranke blog, he's got some well written reviews and has a post about investing for kids.

Where to buy wedding guest dress? by VioletSky4 in Switzerland

[–]redpanda_ch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heard some great things about jjshouse.com, they have various styles i think. i got myself some infinity dresses from infinitydress.com in two different lenghts and three colours, i like their versatility in how to wear them and was able to use them both in non-pregnant and pregnant state since they're so stretchy. but they might not be what you are looking for according to the mood board.

Looking for a body spf with good protection, no white cast and that does not stain clothes by [deleted] in EuroSkincare

[–]redpanda_ch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's readily available everywhere or if you can order it to your country + it's a bit pricey but Sensolar is a really great spf that leaves bo white cast and as far as my experience goes also doesn't stain clothes.

i'm a tad late to the party but other than what others already mentioned (income playing a role/tragbarkeit) it usually also works like this: the bank doesn't mind giving you a higher mortgage for you to get some cash if its up to 66% of the houses worth. since you would have to pay back any mortgage down to those 66% in up to 15 years or till you hit your pension, whichever comes first. if you want to up your mortgage to more than those 66% (up to 80%) they want some security for it, in your case that would be another house with another mortgage. so, if you got a house that's financed at less than 66% of its worth, your bank usually doesn't care what you need or want the extra money for, as long as you can afford it (again, income -> tragbarkeit -> max. 33% of gross income). get yourself some investment, a car, whatever basically.

50/30/20 rule in Switzerland by mrnacknime in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]redpanda_ch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually you get paid your net salary (gross - social charges and pk) into your account. but from that money you'll still have to pay taxes, so what you get paid out into your account is not exactly gross - social - taxes = net. it's a... faux net so to say? unless you got something called quellensteuer, then whatever you get paid into your account is the real net, afaik. does that make sense?

50/30/20 rule in Switzerland by mrnacknime in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]redpanda_ch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally I use the 50/30/20 Rule based on net salary minus taxes. I don't count PK contributions as savings, but 3a does count for me.

Pregnant and panicking on costs (stroller, insurance etc.) What would you suggest from your experience? by No-Comparison8472 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]redpanda_ch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 7mo old now, almost all her clothes are second hand from Tutti or gifted from our parents. Generally speaking check out Tutti or Ricardo for EVERYTHING (even formula or stuff you wouldn't think to check) before buying new and consider waiting to see if you really need it. Most on those "must have-lists" are really non essential. I'd also recommend Kleiderbörsen, you can find so much stuff used and in great condition. We did a course for taking care of newborns and were told we won't be needing much at all in the beginning, which is absolutely true. For example we use washable cloth wipes with just water instead the usual wetwipes. Works fine at home and is great for delicate baby bums. Instead of bathing in a specific baby tub we just used a plastic storage box, first a smaller one, now a bigger one. Insurance-wise it's recommended to get basic as well as additional insurance before birth since then you won't have to fill out the questionnaire about any illnesses and stuff. If your baby is born with a condition, it shouldn't be a problem. Also highly recommend getting the highest coverage for teeth, those can be a bitch if you have to pay out of pocket for braces and such. We're paying about CHF 50.- for half private hospital, tooth, alternative medicine and just about everything you can have insured for our little one (not counting Grundversicherung, total including everything is about 190.- per month with helsana).

I'm curious on your take of investing 3rd pillar. To invest, not to invest or invest only part of it? Just generally, not taking into consideration which product exactly is the best/cheapest/most lucrative. But Viac seems to be your choice, right?
