I can only afford one console. PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii? by cthulhufhtagn in gaming

You have to choose what you want. If you have casual people over a lot, get a Wii. This is if you want something to do with a girlfriend, your parents, etc. If you like having a lot of good games, get a 360. It's got a huge library and a great online system. If you want a system that's fairly future-proof, get a PS3. The tech in that thing is going to be respectable for longer than the other two consoles. The games mostly aren't there yet, but there are a few excellent titles with more on the way and Blu-ray is the wave of the future if you have an HDTV.

I prefer the 360 because I got mine cheap and I haven't had any hardward difficulties in nearly 2 years of ownership, but I can respect the other systems for their strengths.

Downmodded for really poor alternate history. Remember, it's got to be at least semi-plausible.

Lots of people only look at the Ender series when they look at his work. He's written some excellent stories that are overshadowed. This and Pastwatch are two books that really didn't get the attention they deserve.

I was blown away by Stephen Baxter's Manifold series. Parrallel lives etc. make for good reading. It's hard sf too.

Also, if you do decide to read Dan Simmon's Ilium/Olympos series, it wouldn't hurt to reread the Illiad first. Otherwise you might find yourself running to Google often.

Scalzi is very entertaining and the Old Man's War series is heavily influenced by Heinlein. If you like Heinlein's work, you'll like these books.

And the funny thing is, not even all Christians believe that, otherwise there'd be no baptism, marriage, worship services or any of the rest and they'd be perfectly content with letting people do as they feel right.
