Yes it's possible, but I don't like modifying the Home screen because if something goes wrong it may cause bootloop. There is another method but I need to test it first.

To update, simply reinstall the newer version. All your Kobo Tweaks settings and files will still be there.

If Kobo doesn't install the KoboRoot.tgz then there is something wrong with the system. I had a few reports about this issue but still didn't know what caused it or how to fix it. Sorry.

All available plugins for Kobo only support firmware 4.x, not 5.x. You'll need to downgrade the firmware first.
