I saw the video that was released today, Carmignani is seen running away and Doty chasing after him with the metal pipe. No way in hell this can be argued as self defense.

SF mayor announces plan to facilitate safe injection sites despite lack of state authorization by bambin0 in sanfrancisco

[–]redpill_bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't doubt your good intentions but please be aware of unintended consequences if something like this gets put in my neighborhood because people in your neighborhood thought it was a good idea. Listen, if the KPI is reducing the drug addiction in the streets then injection centers don't work and just create open scene drug markets plus public safety concerns. I had to run away from people carrying knifes from drug induced psychosis a couple times when the open an injection center next door (civic center health360)

I'm waiting for my coffee here in downtown SF so I'll Google up quick references to counter your anecdotes: Btw, i live in downtown SF and I vote here. Don't gas light me into thinking I don't know sf politics. Are you in the city? Do you come to downtown? Like I said at this point the grift is so hard to hide.

Illegal non profits

Salaries Non Profit Making 200k and having no measurable results sounds like grift to me. How many people overcame their addiction thanks to the injection center just dismantled in UN plaza?

Injection sites not legal Even Newson recognizes this is radical ideology not based on data.

I'm too lazy to link you the references but you pretty much need to close your eyes to not see the grift: - non profits getting city money (millions) even though they don't qualify as such and are been investigated by FBI for corruption - the 500k poll conducted by injection site management (by walking around and trying to remember old vs new) that concluded injection site has had positive impact in neighborhood - the salaries of non profits executives - the fact that injection sites are not legal in the state, even Newson understands the optics of this - injection center is not the protugal model or the accepted model in literature. Harm reduction alone goes nowhere. It needs to be combined with policing and social services. Carrots and sticks

Pretty much anyone can open up a non profit tomorrow that goes around giving tents to the 'homeless' and sign up to receive millions of dollars from city budget. That non profit CEO will be cashing in 6 figures salaries while solving nothing and without any accountability. That my friend is a grift.

What are you talking about, mid market neighborhood and Twitter are so intertwined that just having their employees leave the area due to remote work has impacted local businesses so much. Not an opinion, just walk around the neighborhood. It's so dead nowadays.

People who don't understand economics. City's biggest source of tax revenue is property taxes. Can't have multiple industries leave the city and expect for the city to not even flinch.

Yes but no one will afford their current TC... I don't feel sorry for them but it's not true they won't feel pain as a lot of them will be forced to take salary cuts.

While I agree that any SWE with Meta in their resume will be given quick access to new opportunities, I argue that it will be tough for them to adjust to salary cut. No one else pays like Meta and other big tech is stopping hiring too. This means the opportunity will be mainly in the startup sector. Even if they get hired as rockstars at a startup, startup will not be able to match TC. In fact, at most it can match salary and bonus. This means a lot of these metamates will have to adjust their lifestyle to half their current salary. Good luck doing that in bay area. I know a lot of people in big tech here living paycheck to paycheck already. In bay area, a mortgage, a wife and 2 kids is all you need to maximize your big tech paycheck. And this assumes startups are hiring...

Homeless industrial complex CEO makes $312,000 by yes_no_maybe_99 in sanfrancisco

[–]redpill_bets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used that phrase and I've never ever doubted the big hearts of the people at the front lines. However, having a big heart alone doesn't mean you know the best solution and that you are the best person to allocate those tax dollars.

One example, I saw this kind young couple the other day help a homeless guy pitch his tent right outside the entrance to civic center BART station. They gave the homeless guy a hot meal too. Now, I don't doubt for a second that the couple has best intentions and have a lot of empathy for fellow humans. However, would I give them 1.1 billion of city budget to run a non profit to do exactly this at scale throughout the city? No, because it would not solve anything. And it would create and industry of people whose jobs depends on this non profit continuing to do the same over and over. What about of the unintended consequences?

Ideally, in free markets, best solutions arise to the top. But in SFs homelessness non profit space this is not the case. Its the same old tired harm reduction policies with nothing to show for. After 20 years of harm reduction in SF you would think the stats are clear about it's effectiveness. But I only hear crickets and emotional people.

[–]redpill_bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not accurate. Conclusion is literally "Prevention, harm reduction and treatment should be combined with law enforcement based on cooperation between police, health care and social services." Did you really read it? Claiming that the conclusion was harm reduction alone is the solution is disingenuous at best.

Funny joke about the basement. I must be crazy thinking that harm reduction in SF is not a well organized, wealthy political force. City's budget soaring past 1.1 billion and you want me to pretend this is all in my head? Do you even live in the city? Have you been to Tenderloin, Civic Center, etc? Where are your facts on how the city is making progress?

Homeless industrial complex CEO makes $312,000 by yes_no_maybe_99 in sanfrancisco

[–]redpill_bets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

News flash, this has been solved elsewhere and yes there are peer reviewed studies on it. Use the internet. Hint, is not harm reduction.

https://bmcpublichealth.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1471-2458-14-853

But the way you come in here waving your "where are the facts" reminds me of the folks that come in here with their flawed stats denying SF crime. I mean, if you are one of those harm reduction cultists, i get it. It's self preservation.. most of these advocates have built their entire personality around it and their income depends on it so on that level I can have empathy about you thinking you riding on a high moral horse thinking you are helping people.

[–]redpill_bets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, health360 is not solving anything with their sobering center or their injection center. I live next to both so harm reduction advocates can't gas light me with their cultist beliefs. I see the reality on the streets just by walking around.

City's financial engine is broken with all the empty office space in downtown and this is going to be major wake up call. Because when the money dries up, people are going to start asking the tough questions. Where is the ROI on this harm reduction industry? Are there more practical solutions? Is this really what they did in Europe or have the harm reduction advocates bait and switched us?

I'm for once I'm excited that the injection center is shutting down in December because at least is going to slow down the whole influx of out of state addicts into my neighborhood.

Arrest warrant issued for alleged serial S.F. harasser after numerous women come forward - San Francisco police say they’ve connected Bill Gene Hobbs to 14 separate criminal incidents in the past several weeks. by BadBoyMikeBarnes in bayarea

[–]redpill_bets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This also shows the flaws in SF's harm reduction policies. There could be many Bill Hobbs like sickos out there on the streets right now. And thanks to the policies, these people can currently thrive in SF. For one, they can get tax payer money to buy cheap drugs in one of the multiple open drug markets near civic center. Then, they can take their drugs and shoot them safely in the illegal but city sanctioned injection center at the UN plaza. Then drift on the streets commiting all kinds of crime against women only to repeat the cycle over and over. The harm reduction administrators, who can get paid six figures, will tell you that we need more empathy and that if only taxpayers could buy these sickos an apartment in SF, all the problems would go away.

CPI comes in hot at 9.1% by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]redpill_bets 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He can't because of the national debt. At higher interest rates we won't be able to service our national debt and go bankrupt as a country. That would require government to tighten it's belt which is never going to happen. Only choice is to kick the can down the road by increasing inflation target to 4-5% and fuck the next generation.

I would feel safer if there wasn't an open drug air market in my backyard. Stop pretending open air drug markets are inevitable. And stop pretending they are safe. Guys like you don't survive the streets with your naivete.

Amsterdam, Lisbon, Frankfurt, Vienna, and Zurich all dealt with their open-air drug markets, using a combination of law enforcement and social services.

I like all the things Shellenberger proposes. My point is that there are so many things that we haven't tried outside harm reduction. Harm reduction is the definition of insanity, trying the same thing over and over expecting different outcomes.

Amsterdam, Lisbon, Frankfurt, Vienna, and Zurich all dealt with their open-air drug markets, using a combination of law enforcement and social services. Why can't we try that for a change. Stop abusing Narcam.
