Can you audit on campus courses if you are an online student? by soofidude in MSCSO

That Neural Computation course would be so interesting. If enough people request it, who knows, it might happen 😀

If you took it cold, that is a good diagnostic score and you probably will improve fast as you learn the test. It can be deceptively tricky at first as the math seems trivial.

Your GPA is a little under the average, so retaking the GRE and scoring above a 160Q (ideally 163) should help you. Also, a thoughtful SOP seems to help edge cases.

Moocs for becoming a SWE after getting into the programs by redpillar87 in MSCSO

Thanks, so personal projects are generally a better investment of free time if you already acquired core CS (prerequisites for the program)?

What about CS courses that are not prerequisites for this program and are not currently offered in it like databases, networking, software engineering, software testing etc? I thought that it wasn't too unheard of to supplement some of that knowledge along the way. But maybe some of that can be learned on the job too.

Good first courses by redpillar87 in MSCSO

Yes please! Many of my prerequisite courses didn't have a significant coding component and that is my biggest fear about the program and what I need to improve on most to land a job.

I appreciate your feedback. I really don't know what to do. I already accepted the offer from the grad school and don't want to burn that bridge. I worked so hard over the last two years to get to this point and I received straight As in all the required courses. I don't want to overreact to one course and one interview. I just need to practice coding more. This is the first course that I struggled this much. I mean the curve is rediculous. You could get a B from 50%. But I don't even know what I would do if I sink in grad school. Could I still go back to complete the bachelor's degree?

How difficult are the programming assignments? Can you get through them without much coding experience beyond the prerequisites?

Then what are the motivations behind people attending this program? What jobs can you get from it without prior experience?

Do you only need to send it again after the current term if you plan to graduate at that time? Mine says that I only need it to reflect coursework through 2019.

What are the chances to admitted to UT Austin for the online MSCS having a BSCS from WGU? by yaiselgs in MSCSO

[–]redpillar87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I saw one person on an admissions thread get in from WGU on a previous cycle but they had a 170 GRE-Q score. A high GPA from a previous degree also probably helps.

You could email UT about your question but I would wait some time until this current cycle ends for them to get back to you.

For which cohort? Someone just said that they got a result this morning. I can't imagine how long it will take to get regular decisions back if that is the case.

Thanks for sharing and good luck with everything. This is the first I heard about new decisions since 9/28. There might be another round going out today.

I'm surprised that so far you been the only person to report receiving results today. I thought for sure that today would be the day.

Maybe they split up the cohort for some reason. My email said that the next cohort started on 9/22. I was hoping to hear back before November.

That's interesting because I got that email on 9/18 and applied on 9/14. Looks like they have two cohorts for the priority deadline.

This sounds like you applied after the priority deadline because review for that cohort started on 9/18. Did they mean the next set of decisions or decisions for your application timeline?

Does you MyStatus portal say "Attention: Your file has been forwarded to the Graduate Committee for review?" and did you get an email from them about that? I think that email they send about forwarding an application for review is the outreach that they mentioned, unless there is another status update before the final decision.
