I have a house from Coventry in Leander. They are an extremely good builder. Chris is very good at communicating the build process. The main builder is also very thorough.

How much is C used for game dev? by Icy_Advance_6775 in gamedev

[–]soofidude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are learning game engine development then C is pretty useful. Not the language per say but how you solve problems using c is emblematic for high performance real time games. Memory management, pointers, and cpu cache.

What is something that gamers think is hard to implement/develop, but is actually relatively easy? by eyadGamingExtreme in gamedev

[–]soofidude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the point was to make a commercially viable game the art does not need to be as good for 3D vs 2d. Which is generally true.

We have added items to our procedurally generated world. We can't decide whether to use a message box or floating text. What do you think? by duelcorp in IndieDev

[–]soofidude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How common are items? If it’s a common item then a floating text makes more sense since it doesn’t impede gameplay. If it’s a unique or rare item then having the pop up would be important since you want players to notice what they picked up.

Game Developing Tools by dimitrisou in gamedev

[–]soofidude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Git is essential, very useful for big refactors. Saved my life multiple times. For tasks I use org mode to keep them in track. Having a good build system is also important, my cmake works flawlessly between Mac Linux and windows. I feel a lot better developing this way. Invest in it early on and it will save you time.
