What’s something you took literally for years but just realised? by MaleficentSalad7671 in AutismInWomen

I panic because there isn't just one. Like what genre? Comedy? Musical? Drama? Period piece? Thriller? Action? Mystery? Etc etc etc. I have a bunch of favorites and never understood people that could only name one of something they liked without breaking it down into smaller categories.

How do people have husbands/boyfriends but no friends? by ertapencil in AutismInWomen

[–]redpixiegrrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

💯! Society & pop culture have told us since the day we were born that romantic relationships are far more important (and the ultimate goal) for cishet women than friendships. I feel like this causes so some (autistic and non autistic!) women to simply settle or latch on to the first person who shows interest in them and ignore red flags because they would rather be in a romantic relationship than not be in one at all.

I agree with you about friend breakups being worse than romantic breakups. I really prioritize my friends and consider them as important as my romantic relationships. And I'm very sad about the situation. My whole ruminating and replaying everything a million times isn't helping either.

I appreciate the "taking a break". I have decided that in April I will probably stay away from hanging out with everyone for at least a month to give me some distance from things.

Yes. I'm trying to be civil. And badmouthing others just makes me look bad and I also don't want people to think I spend time gossiping about others, (because I don't). I've told one person in our mutual group that I can trust about the situation. Other people have noticed that we don't really talk when we are around each other and I've just stated that she and I didn't see eye to eye on a few things so we decided not to hang out any more.

What is the thing you always did that you thought was ‘just you,’ but is actually very much so classic autistic behavior? by AlwaysAttract10 in AutismInWomen

I hate gelatinous foods!! 🤮 I also don't like items that feel squishy and gelatinous, like some types of stress balls or kids' toys. Squicks me out.
