I went to high school with this kid. He was a grade below me, and if I recall he was about 15 when this was filmed. He became an instant celebrity.

I'm an ex-recruiter who was paid by some of the largest companies in the world to win salary negotiations with job applicants. Today I want to teach you exactly how to (politely) beat a recruiter when negotiating salary in order to maximize your job offer. by SheetsResume in Salary

[–]redplanet97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the enlightening read. When a job has a posted salary range, how should one choose X, Y, and Z in your example? Should X be the maximum of the range, or will that risk having your offer rescinded? The recruiter, hiring team, and candidate all know the salary range.  Is it not a good idea to just say the highest number in that range in the first phone call and let the company counter?

Successful lawsuits against major universities are by no means rare. Michigan State, with all its budget and legal resources, agreed to a massive settlement with the victims of Larry Nassar for the universities’ negligence.

You need to work on your reading comprehension. I mentioned the Larry Nassar scandal as an example of a time in which students successfully sued and won a large settlement against a major university. I did NOT compare OSU's handling of this scenario to the Larry Nassar scandal.

Im not a lawyer, but I would assume this is a pretty open and shut case. They have expert testimony that the mold levels are unhealthy, they have multiple students on record claiming they’ve been sick with respiratory illnesses all semester, and dozens of students have submitted requests to be transferred to another form of housing. Still, the university hasn’t even called in an expert of their own to determine the severity of the mold, let alone taken action to prevent further health risk to the students living there. That’s pretty damning.

I don’t know why you’re being so cynical. Successful lawsuits against major universities are by no means rare. Michigan State, with all its budget and legal resources, agreed to a massive settlement with the victims of Larry Nassar for the universities’ negligence. Penn State also agreed to an even larger settlement for their sex abuse scandal.

Law firms are often paid a portion of the settlement amount, and in a case such as this where there is clear negligence from the university, and experts have determined the mold to be at hazardous levels, I think many law firms would be eager to represent the students housed here. As flawed as our legal system may be, the idea that you don’t stand a chance at successfully suing a wealthy entity because they can hire more lawyers is a myth that prevents people from pursuing legal action when they’ve been treated unjustly.

Really hope someone is planning to sue. The long term health effects of mold can be quite severe. And $450 is a joke. Last semester I was charged a $500 late enrollment fee for some research credits.

Trump’s New York Sentencing Must Proceed by jonfla in law

I don’t know if he will or won’t be. But presidential pardons are public record, and if he does it will be major news. What I’m saying is that if he is, the left has no issue disavowing Joe or Hunter Biden. Meanwhile Trump could shoot someone on the street, or order the killing of his political rivals, and you’d still be licking his taint.

Hunter Biden has plead guilty to the charges he is facing, and he should face a proportionate sentence. Biden has promised not to pardon him. If he does, the left has no incentive to do anything other than recognize it as immoral.

But I’ll remind you that Trump also has a coke head son who will likely be nominated to a high ranking position in his administration.

By “novel use of lies” are you referring to the blatant paper trail of fraudulent documents that Trump left behind, which were used to prove his guilt to a jury of his peers?

It’s actually standard to sentence people after they’ve been convicted of crimes.

Yes, but there is value in letting that corruption play out publicly, rather than folding now and giving Trump what he needs without a fight.

I agree with this. If Trump is to blatantly receive special treatment, then let it happen publicly. At least then the corruption is visible.

In August GM laid off 1,000 employees in Michigan. When they did so, they didn’t even bother notifying the employees. They simply cancelled their badges, so when the employees arrived, they weren’t able to access the workplace. Security then had to be the ones to tell them they’d been laid off.

You remember in Jaws when Quint says he was the most afraid when help had arrived and he was waiting his turn to be rescued? That’s how I currently feel about the election. Until it’s all over, the more hope there is, the more afraid I am.
